Reflecting on Affiliate Marketing

Description
Approximately 10 years ago I had started affiliate marketing but with no real training I was going from one email to another with recommendations how to start selling on-line. I was always told to
concentrate on a niche that I was interested in or what I knew a lot about.

I was a health care professional and so concentrated on giving content on health conditions. Some information was original content from my knowledge but I also bought some content to pad out my articles and blogs. I used this information to give away and provided links to health care homeopathic products.

I did make a few small sales and would probably have continued in this way however, a meeting with my health professional peers and a professional brought in to discuss "The Law and Nursing" bought my venture to a halt.

During question time I discussed what I had been doing. I was advised that if someone bought something that caused them discomfort or a reaction against it and it was found that I, as a health professional had recommended the product to them, I could be sued and as it was nothing to do with my employer I was not protected against litigation.

Feelings
I suddenly felt very uneasy. I was disappointed that all the work I had put into all the blogs and articles for affiliate marketing was going to be wasted.

Evaluation
I could understand that as a health care professional I have a responsibility to the public but I felt that I was also improving my own knowledge and research skills whilst also trying to bring in extra
income to the household.

Analysis
I could not jeopardise myself as I was sole earner. Putting myself at risk of litigation and possibly losing my registration if I continued in this way was out of the question.

Conclusion
At the time I just felt that I should stop what I was doing. It was too frightening to think of continuing. However, what I could and should have done was to change my niche but at the time I could not think of another area to look into in any depth.

Action plan
10 years on and no better off. During those 10 years I have looked at other ideas of making money and have spent thousands of pounds on training and get rich quick schemes but have never followed through either because of lack of technical skills or plans never actually
working as promised.

So what's changed! About two months ago I had a chance meeting with a total stranger and an introduction to a new way of thinking and behaving. I am taking action and dipping my toe back into the water. I have studied and researched a new niche, making the most of the support
from community forums to ensure that what is promised is being achieved and I am now ready to fully immerse myself in this venture and it has nothing to do with Healthcare.

    Good luck.

Sucks you missed 10 good years and the 'golden' era of affiliate marketing back in 2006-2010.

Still lots of money to be made and like they say...

    Hi ChrisBa,
I wrote the post on digital bloggers and was repurposing it. If this is not allowed, I apologise,
I started here today and have not had chance to read all the rules.
    Regards

You could sell your site and start fresh with a new site and niche.

Well your looking for the shortcut or your trying to start at the end which is make the money first. Does not work that way. That is why 98% of people nver make it online. They are not willing to do what successful people do.

Honestly, this what always hampered my efforts in the beginning--too.

I was always to make it fast--with no actual work.

It was only when I realized that you have to treat online marketing--your online business-- like you would a brick-and-mortar business did I finally start making headway.
