I recently got a job as a nightclub promoter in my city (which works out well as to help me in my marketing skills) I only just started college so I haven't had any classroom help in my Marketing... However, I was trying to think of a scheme where I could be very well known throughout the cities, and people would follow me to my parties Do you think creating Tshirts would be a good idea? It'll cost me $530 to make them, do you think I could find a way to persuade people into buying them for $5? I could do something where "if you buy this, you'll be on the guestlist every week from now on" (maybe they'll realize that I'm more than happy to put people on the list though...) The tshirt design I had said "I'm With D-Brad" on the front (that'd be me..) and the back had 2 company logo's for the promoting company and the club, and it said ""City's" Hottest College Night Parties" Think this can work at all, or is there another incentive you can think of for me to get people to buy it.. I doubt people would really pay for a shirt like that but idk.. it is mostly advertising me and the club, ya know.. |

I'd recommend you tell your patrons your idea and ask your patrons what they think and if they would buy your t-shirts first before laying out that amount of money. Your probably better off offering a premium/VIP membership to the club which gives them added benefits ie. cheaper drinks, access to a private sectioned off area of the club etc |

Yes dont lay any money out, your employed by someone, they should pay if they like your ideas! Why not setup a bar/club crawl everymonth! T-Shirts, everyone pays per head and you work out games and things to do on the crawl! Most bars and clubs would be happy to accomodate I am sure! Depends what your restrictions are and the sort of people you are aiming at! But a crawl once or twice a month could become very well known! You could even throw a party on an obscure day like Sunday for example. There is a club/bar/event in London I went to recently called "The Church", google it, it had over 2000 people there at £10 per head and drinks were expensive. It was a full party with entertainment. Anyone in London will probably know what I am talking about. It is on every Sunday afternoon 12-4pm and it was packed out and apparently is every week without fail! Now with drinks, merchandise and entry, they must be RAKING it in and it has become well known! ; ) This is obviosuly aimed at the younger "clubbing" crowd so obviously not suitable for all nightclubs. It is all about difference and standing out!!!! MARKETING!!! ; ) GoGetta |

I have found nightclub promotion quite difficult, however there are ways that are successful. What I have found that by offering 2 for 1 offers through flyers. Have some really pretty girls dress up and wear your T-shirts and hand out the flyers to everyone, and even have some handsome guys to hand out to the girls too, can also be a bonus. With the 2 for 1 offers, make sure you have a space for name/address/email and then when they come for their 2 for 1 offer, take the card and add their details to a database, then spam them every week with special offers and promotions. One really good idea is to collect patron's details, and have them sign up to be a VIP member, then a couple of weeks before their birthday send them 10 free entry tickets and a ticket for a bottle of cheap champagne. If you get these people in for their birthday they will drink. I see you are in a college town, it may be an idea to get in contact with the leader of the student union, they have a lot of sway when it comes to where students have their "student night", offering them a free night of drinks for themselves (through vouchers) for bringing down the entire campus to your club is a good way to fill it up. If you are going to be an independent nightclub promoter, where you offer your services, then you need some good DJ's and entertainers to create the atmosphere you want, alongside good sales people who can sell your tickets, etc. Good luck with your endeavour ... I am sure you'll do well |

Since you've already thought about targeting the college crowd, try thinking Greek - as in fraternities, sororities. Houses could sponsor nights, with maybe a competition for who can pack the house. Add some games or contests like you might see on MTV's coverage of Spring Break, and you might have a monster on your hands. |

I got some real good ideas here =] Thanks guys! I'm sure at least some of you have read "How to Win Friends and Influence People" I'm using that to outline a little discussion I plan to have with my company about getting them to pay for the shirts (as I work under them). I'll take some of the ideas I was given also and see if we can put it into practice. My city is actually known as a College Town (very high ratio of college students vs. everyone), and thursday is their night, so that's my audience.. And I am one of them, so that might work to my advantage a bit... I just need exposure, not for just my company, but for me, cause I need people to go through me when they want in the club.. To keep some people happy, if they bring a group with them usually, I let them in free sometimes, but that's $5 out of my pocket of course... |
