DL Guard install problem - RESOLVED

Hi Guys

I know a lot of you all use Sam's DL Guard here. Do any of you know how quickly it takes for the Support Tickets to get looked at by Sam or his team or does anyone log into the forum any more?

I know I am being impatient but I just want to get my project finalized and can't without DL Guard and I cannot log in due to a MySQL DB error which I know what the error is but it won't let me change it.

If anyone here thinks they can help then please do read on for what happened.

The auto install all went spiffingly, did all the steps, triple checked as I went.

Created DB fine.

Inserted that info where and when needed.

Changed file permissions as instructed.

Deleted install file as instructed.

Tried to log into Account and keep on getting MySQL Error, I do get to see the page with the information on it which shows the user name, password and host name info and this is where I notice, somehow the actual password has been split in two, half of it is in the password area and the other half is in the host name area.

So I changed that as it says to do and saved changes only to get presented with the same thing over and over.

So I presumed that somehow this info got changed during install and so I am not surprised it can't connect with my DB so went and looked at all the files via FTP and cannot see where I should change anything, so didn't.

Anyone got any idea which file I need to edit to get the correct DB info in, pretty sure it's a config one.

Hello Sue,

Sam is based in Australia, so a big 12 hour time difference. However, Sam will get back to you in a timely fashion and advise how to get this working. His support is excellent!

There is also a DL Guard forum you can post any issues on.

Hi Sue,

If you want support for DLG, try the DLG support forum. Sam doesn't waste time responding to questions proposed there about his product.

Besides, I think someone mentioned that he may not be on at the moment. I do know that he doesn't spend every waking moment on this forum either, so he might not see this thread.

Ha! there's me being all impatient and then I go get called away by a client, sorry about that everyone and thanks to all who have responded and I did not realize Sam was in Australia so that explains a lot

By the way, I did post Sams forum first before coming here but thanks for that advise too.

And I am running over to Judy person's profile and send her an urgent call for action, lol. I am getting no where trying to explain how i want my wp files installed so it has some protection from hackers.

So for ten dollars a site...man you just can't go wrong here.

I've was sick and offline for about 60 days. I've been tracking down some of my sites and domains that have disappeared-long boring story, anyway I found so far four sites up and running with affiliate links and all kinds of neat stuff. now there are none of MY links there...one of my techs has done himself a nice business taking my domains and creating some sites and income for himself....

now that is just being a hustler....I am not mad, it is my fault. With extreme poverty come a tendency to be self reliant and always look for a way to exploit things for your own good.

so i need to better protect my sites. so ......

I always find DLGuard support to be very quick - replies within 24 hours. I live in the UK so probably quicker if you are in the US and the same time zone.
