One thing I'm really surprised with is that as a community warrior forum doesn't have their own trusted community ran host.

Marketing can be hard on hosting, but with a few rules and two or three people that know what theyre doing it should be possible to offer at like $0.1 per domain per month or less.

Shouldn't your question be, "Which is the best web hosting?"

Starting your journey with a pauper's perspective will make you one and keep you one.

    Life is short! Go long!

    Frank

P.S. Keep in mind that there is no such ting as the 'best' web hosting as it's all a matter of opinion, but my post concerns your mindset, not actually answering your question. :-)

Are you sure you want cheap? I've seen some cheap and even some not cheap web hosts that drop a ton of traffic (which costs you money.)

Greetings, I currently use HostGator and for the most part they have been pretty consistent with their uptime and support. There are a number of different plans they offer at very reasonable prices depending upon on what you need. Also surprisingly, NameCheap also offers web hosting as well and they're pretty inexpensive for the most part. But there are tons of ISP's out there so I would just do some good research...and I think you'll be able to find a provider that will meet your needs. But as it was mentioned in this post, cheap isn't always the best, so compare plans for the best ISP for your needs.

Yes, just $10 per year for the 1st year. And then even more if you wish to maintain your account.

You can search at Google for keywords like cheapest web hosting, one dollar web hosting, or you can browse web hosting talk forum and then ask the same question.

Before deciding on a host do a google on the hostname and EIG.

You want to avoid anything to do with EIG as you'll hate your life at some point.

EIG are a big company buying up a load of smaller companies and completely ruining their setup and support funtions!

People are saying Hostgator, but thats EIG and should be avoided!

Any major company will have a plenty of disenters. You are bound to hack of or disapoint a percentage of cusomers when yiu are a large organisation.

NO I am NOT suggesting you aim for that as a buisness just that it happens.

I challange anyone to name a hosting and no-one to say they have had problems.

However I have used Hostgator for 8 years aaand many other hosting comnpanies.

Fior anewbie or a simple solution I always suggest Hostgator

    reasons are

    1. It just works out of the box.. unlike many (massive important)
    2. You can pay monthly so does not need a big upfront investment
    3. It's cheap $7 a month will do most newbies
    4. It does have pretty good support (including direct chat) though it can take 30 minutes to get attention at times.
    5. Uptime is very good despite many peoeples scare stories.

      Tony,

The problem is EIG as a policy do not care about their customers and the policies they set in place for customers are all about making money, that's the be all and end all. The reason they buy so many brands is to capture the market as their customer churn is crazy.

I worked at a brand before EIG bought it, I was a department manager and they got rid of all the support and escalation staff. They moved support over to their existing team that was already over worked.

As it stands escalation tickets currently have around a 2-3 week resolution time. So apart from a basic "we are working on this" you'll get nothing.

I signed up with asmallorange, which I didn't check was EIG, on a blackfriday dead and waited 2 Weeks for a backup restore and a month and a half for a refund reply!

Any EIG host will be OK when the server is running OK and also when you have no problems on your account. If they have issues on a server you better have a recent local backup as their number one solution is recreate the server and accounts and then "try to restore data".

I'm just hoping people aren't working hard, trusting the company and then get left high and dry. You are as safe with a small startup host (which does proper incorporation etc) as you are with eig!

I've been using A Small Orange for about 4 years now and I've got nothing but good things to say about them. They are extremely helpful and answer quickly. I've also found that they offer a lot more behind-the-scenes options. I don't remember my previous hosting company's name, but when I made the switch, I was in awe.

I'm not going to use the word "cheapest"

The most cost-effective hosting will be companies like HostGator or BlueHost. If you opt for a shared hosting plan, you will be able to host unlimited websites (withing performance boundaries) on a professional platform used by many successful Internet marketers. No matter how many websites you are running, it will cost you about ten bucks a month. the only catch (it's not really a catch) is that you will need to prepay three years.

    The Cheapest Hosting is Free

If you are just using it for backlinking, why not use Tumblr? You can create your own, but it's far more effective to purchase Tumblr blogs with authority to give your backlinks the juice it needs.

And it's free! (with the exception of the inexpensive purchases of authority blogs).

I would not use this for your own content blogs or niche sites, but it's great for backlinks.

Go kick some link juice butt!

I would normally answer your question in terms of "free is never free" - espeically in regard to free hosting.

However, you asked for the "cheapest", and there ARE good inexpensive hosts. I recommend Bluehost. Their prices are cheap even after the promo period you are trying to avoid.

    BUT...

If you are only interested in back linking, THEN it's ok to use a "free" host (as I said earlier, free is never free, but in this case you would never need to scale or monetize).

For back linking, you will be fine with Tumblr... and you can buy existing blogs with authority (cheap!)
