How to Do a Two-Step process sign up

Hey guys.

How to do a two-step process sign up in aweber?

Basically, the first opt-in page will only ask for e-mail. After the click the send button, they'll be ask to give other info like name, address etc. BUT everything will go to the same subscriber information.

Can this be done with aweber?

    here's how I would do it (this is just off the top of my head, so there may be some holes in it):

    1) set up 2 different lists. One list for each step. The list for step one I would set up as single opt-in (assuming you can do this - I can flip back and forth between single and double, but I hear some people can not).

    2) set up the thank you page for step one to be the optin page for list 2 (your step 2 of the process). Pass along the email and name from step 1 to this page (an option available with aweber).

    3) Take the opt-in html code for step 2 / list 2, and pre-populate the name and email from the info passed from step 1. I would change the form fields for the 'email' and 'name' onthis form to hidden (or at least un-editable).

    I'd set it up so people are removed from list 1 when they get added to list 2.

    The reason I would do 2 lists for this is so you still have them on your list if they decide to bail out at step 2.

    If your willing to lose the people who drop out from your process at step 2, then you can use only 1 awbwer list. Just set the form up from step one to post directly to the page for step 2 (skipping aweber), and prepopulate the awber form from there.
