Affiliate Programs for a conservative/military audience?

So I currently run a twitter page with a patriotic/military appreciation/right wing theme. It has around 125k followers and has gradually picked up quite a lot of engagement (most likely because of the election). I know twitter isn't the best platform to promote products off of but I would also consider making a cheap blog/landing page and posting links to those.

I'm trying to think of some affiliate programs that I could advertise to my audience. It's 85% male followers so I don't even think I would promote female products. The only market I can really think of that might have some success would be guns and other weapons, but do affiliate companies even sell them? I looked into promoting yeti coolers because they're extremely popular for no reason right now, but to advertise them you have to go through some 3rd party affiliate company and they turned down my twitter page which I kind of expected.

I'm a complete noob and have never had much success with affiliate marketing but I feel stupid just sitting on this pile of potential buyers. I really want to start connecting with my audience and gain real followers who return because of what I'm offering.

Do you know if a sizeable portion of your list consists of vets who are looking to boost their income in addition to their pension? I see a potentially good opportunity to help them do so by putting some solid Internet Marketing/Passive Income products in front of their eyes. It also has mass appeal - even for folks who aren't ex-military.

If I were you, I would poll the audience, send them a survey, or offer a valuable freebie for their feedback.

Ask them what they want. See if there are some common problems/concerns/issues that lots of them share.

People here on this forum can only guess what is on their minds. Really, we probably aren't your audience. Your mission, should you choose to accept it Jim . . . (sorry, got carried away there) ... is to do the research and find out what things are common to the audience.

If you don't do that, your conversion rate for any affiliate product or service you promote will be woefully low. Broad, general population audiences are a tough market. Hopefully their "military" commonality will present some common issues.

    Good luck to you,

    Buddy,

If you can't sell them guns through affiliate marketing, offer them complementary products to it!

I think the best affiliate program you can go to is from Amazon. It sells different kinds of gun complementary products such as gun safe, cleaning kits, and etc.

Also, since you have male prospects, offering outdoor/adventure products such as boots/footwear, bags, clothing, gear, accessories and etc. would be a great idea.

Just my 2 cents, but if I were you, I would venture on selling these kinds of stuff. That's quite a huge market, you know!

Good luck and hope this helps.

I target red state / conservative audiences in my niche. They like natural remedies, survival stuff (off grid, grow your own garden guides) and DIY material (how to build solar panels).

Seriously this segment is a gold mine.

I don't know how to build it off of Twitter - all my marketing is over email or SEO/PPC to a blog page.

Do you have an idea of the demographics of your twitter followers?

Twitter analytics offer a lot of demographics. What specifically?

I sell army sweatshirts. I think it's against the rules to mention the name of the site, but perhaps you can infer it.

It's one of my many set-it and forget-it businesses that uses Amazon as the product source. Military apparel is very popular and you might also consider working with businesses like Cafepress, Spreadshirt, Zazzle or a variety of other print-on-demand shops to handle orders.

Commissions can be relatively small, but you might other military focused businesses on ShareASale Commission Junction or Rakuten.

    Hope this helps...

  • You are sitting on a potential life-changing gold mine, BGreen94 - almost literally (see explanation below). And by the way, how in the world did you get 125k followers if you are so new at this? That's amazing...

The conservative market likes gold - real gold, and that is also one of the few areas left in affiliate marketing which can completely change your life with genuine high end earning levels and residuals.
