Featured in an article at Bankrate.com - sigh

I was recently featured in an interview with Bankrate.com

7 ways to minimize small-business risks

I was pretty excited after the interview and was looking forward to some excellent exposure and a nice backlink to my site. The article was great. Unfortunately no backlink. I think I have been working on techie stuff too long LOL

For most of us, we qualify as a small business so if you are interested in minimizing your risks go check out the article.

Ask for the backlink. They're using your expertise...you should be able to use them.

Unfortunately most of the leverage benefit has been lost. When it is first released it gets picked up by several aggregators and published on their sites as well.

Next time I know to clearly specify what keyword and backlink I want. Though I did publish it on my blog to create "social proof" LOL

BankRate is PR7! You haven't nearly as much as you think. I recommend you shoot an email off. It will help your rankings.

Yeah Scott, BlueSquares is right -- Don't just let that go when you can get some benefit from it. They obviously found value in the information you provided, and probably will be fine with your request.

        Good luck!

Thanx for the responses. They did include my name and company name in the article just not a link back to my website. Unfortunatly if you search for Wealth Squad on Google the first page is a membership site I am in process of setting up. I need to get cracking on that huh?

Have a great day and enjoy yourselves. It even got published on a .gov site too. That would have been nice for ranking

I would have pressed them for a backlink especially if they are using your
knowledge on their own web site. Yes, the initial buzz has been lost but
a PR-7 backlink from a site in your niche is not something easy to acquire.

I have seen a similar thing in another website competitor to bankrate.com. They have mentioned the author's name but no backlinks. I thought they paid for the article. I used the article on my site but provide a link back to the web page that the article published, just in case.

In this case they would get the backlinks, probably.
