Aweber: something VERY weird going on... Need advice

Hello warriors,

Something very weird is going on with my squeeze page and I need some feedback here. Here's the deal:

I have an opt-in page (free ebook) that leads to the typical customized "the download link has been emailed to you" page. So far so good, but my tracking stats indicate that even though around 50% of people opt-in, only 22% actually click on the download link sent to their email address.

I have considered the following reasons for this to happen:

1) People opt-in with a fake email address, but upon manually combing through my Aweber subscribers, I can hardly find any "asdasdasd@asdasdasd.com" type of email. The large majority of the emails look genuine.

2) People don't have any interest in downloading the ebook. But if so... why would they opt-in in the first place?

3) The customized "the download link has been emailed to you" page is not clear enough, but there's nothing confusing about it. It simply ask them to check their inbox tray for their download link. I cannot think this is the reason.

4) My emails end up on their spam folder, but Aweber has a very good delivery rate so I doubt over half of my emails end up on spam folders.

Again, I cannot figure out why less than half of the people who opt-in actually click on the download link... I really cannot figure it out. Considering that this is a free ebook monetized by affiliate links located within the ebook, it's a BIG deal for me if half of the subscribers never actually download the ebook.

Any ideas?
