Learning Affiliate from the Merchant Side

I've been doing internet marketing for about 10 years now, but just now thinking about doing my first merchant offer. Do you guys have any resources for planning for operating an affiliate offer from the merchant side?

Warnings, caveats, or horror stories are welcome...

If you use an instant pay platform like JVZ, be very careful about approving affiliates for instant commissions.

Merchant fees and customer support are the biggest hurdles I find.....also charge back management...it's nice being on the affiliate side and nt having deal with all that.

I will advise you to be selective when picking your affiliates, especially in the first few weeks of your launch.

Weirdly enough we (as in WF and associated companies) have been on the merchant side, the affiliate side, and the platform side. Like the other posters say, instant commission and chargebacks are not fun, so stick to reputable affiliates. You'll also find that some of your affiliates aren't always doing things you like, so it can be worth asking how affiliates intend on selling.

That's a great plan! Just make your product awesome, and be cautious on choosing your affiliates. Make sure they really understand your commissions TaC, they understand what they are selling and how to sell it, and they are for sure your partners to make your business grow.

    Good luck!
