Choosing Between a Few Niches

I have narrowed my list of niches to a few. I did this by plugging my keywords into keywordseverywhere.com and finding those that have high search volume and then checking out the Google results myself to see the competition.

All of my keywords are the same to me, such as:

Drupal Hosting
WordPress Hosting
Joomla Hosting

I don't care which package I host--I sell the same hosting either way.

The problem is that keywordseverywhere.com monthly searches figures don't match with what I see on Google Trends. Here is a graph of my top two keywords:

This is over 5 years. According to keywordseverywhere.com, however, these two keywords have the exact same number of monthly searches.

Based on Google Trends, the blue line looks like a MUCH better market, but based on the competition, the red keyword looks better (meaning easier) to me.

So one of my questions is what tool can I use to get a better answer for how many monthly searches there are? I know there are several paid-for tools but I only have a budget at present to pay for and learn how to use one.

What I am interested to see is how many monthly searches there are and also the competition for each keyword, if possible.

Thank you!

    Hi:

One free tool that you can use is Google Keyword planner. You can type that into Google and they will take you to their keyword planner. If you don't have a google account then you will have to sign up for one.

    Good luck,

Don't read too much into keyword volume. My last employer's keywords showed minuscule monthly searches in their niche, but they made enough money to rent space in one of London's nicest office buildings!

I think everyone here knows that Google Keyword planner no longer gives precise monthly searches, just a range.

Well if their business was from other advertising and they make $2K per sale, their store has no relevance for me. I want to get Google traffic and each sale is less than $100. So the keyword volume is important I think.

Try focusing on a niche that you know the most, it worked great for me when I chose the niche of online conversions and calculators because I have a lot of knowledge in this field.
