Yes, it's free but here's the difference

    Wordpress.com = you'll have a blog hosted at their site. SITENAME.Wordpress.com

Wordpress.org = You download the entire Wordpress self-hosted software, which you run on SITENAME.com (your own site)

Both are free but the second requires you having your own domain and hosting, which will cost you (not a lot, but something to consider).

You'll first have to reset the forwarding back to godaddy. Once you get a hosting account from a hosting company, you can get the domain name servers from your hosting company. You then go back to godaddy and change your DNS there.

Best way to figure out the above is thru your hosting company's videos or set-up instructions. You can also try youtube for instructional videos. Tons out there.

          1. go hunting for a hosting company. While you are shopping see if the company you settle with has auto install of a wordpress CMS (content management system).

          2. If they have auto install, you won't have to upload the program and the install will go very fast.

          3. Once installed you'll get a log in page where you'll be able to log into the back of the blog where you can manage it.

Go ahead and post. Don't know how to post? I just googled " how do I create a post in wordpress" and voila, there was a page with detailed information on how to do it.

Yep. Doing a search for a hosting company with 1-click installs is key, unless you are technically minded. I love my account with MediaTemple, which is maybe a bit more money but it's great service and fast, one-click installs.

The good thing about wordpress is that is really easy to handle for anyone.

Antother thing, when using site.wordpress.com you can not add googleads but when you have your own domaing is quite easy.

I'ld go for hostgator for my hosting. Pretty cheap and easy to use.
They are about $8 a month i belive.

Hostgator has cPanel, so it's pretty easy to install wordpress.

    Go for it

I use HostGator and the cpanel there will install it for you automatically free.

If you are going to sell products as an affiliate you will have to get a host and host it yourself.

If you host it at WordPress - they will not allow you to sell products if you're hosted with them.

Yes, I use Wordpress also but just be careful how you set up your hosting. I set up iis6 at Godaddy for a snitz forum. Then launched it. When I tried to use wordpress Godaddy said I need iis7 so I had to cancel out my old iis6 acct and upgrade. I lost my forum database as Godaddy did not walk me trough saving it correctly or there system failed. When I got iis7 going, wordpress still would not work without more programming so I moved hosting to HostGator and it all worked fine. I like Godaddy, but after being misadvised many times, this really sucked.

    Cheers!

If you have your own hosted Wordpress.org blog you can do an awful lot more with it, and even sell (flip) it later if you wanted to- with the free Wordpress.com you are more limited but it's good if you just want to get a blog up and running quickly to create a link to your main blog for example.

As others have said, it is very easy to use once you are used to it.

Hi, regarding hosting, I am with webhostingpad.com They have a lot in their packages and I think it is around $3-5 a month, don't remember exactly as I got it for 2 years. But they set up Wordpress automatically

Moreover Wordpress offers a 5 minute manual installing tutorial and that is also really good and easy.

    Cheerz,
    Marcus

    Hi,

Today I started playing with wordpress for the first time. I brought a BlueHost account for $6.95 a month for 12 months (paid in advance) and installed the Atahualpa theme (free). BlueHost has one click install of wordpress and it was very easy (much easier than I expected). I redirected the nameservers from my domain at GoDaddy which was also much easier (and faster) than I expected.

For using the theme, another warrior (rosetrees) had review copies of their tutorial on using the Atahualpa theme which I followed step by step and found fantastic. Today I decided and created my overall layout and header for the site - tomorrows goal is plugins and content.

The only problem I had was in setting up Filezilla for ftp - that involved a live chat with BlueHost and I'm still not entirely sure what the problem was.

I am now in love with wordpress.

I also use HostGator as my web host. Its CPanel has a Fantastico module that allows guided installation of WordPress (among other web apps).

Fantastico also support guided upgrade of an existing version of WordPress to the latest version when it's made available.
