You could always write articles and sell them, or if I were you i would just start your own websites and post your own articles then attempt to monetize those websites.

I suppose it depends on what kind of writing you enjoy. (AKA which "Market.")

My personal suggestion (and it's just that) is to write your own content (eBooks/Articles/etc.) on topics that you enjoy and interest you, and then publish them on your own Website etc. (Because then instead of getting paid just once, you can get paid over and over again.)

Kindle eBooks are the often best way to monetize writing skills if you are willing to promote also. You could also develop a website for your writing and monetize with Adsense and affiliate links.But with Kindle, Amazon will bring the traffic to you - IF you do it right.

To succeed you will want to know your market, check the competition and analyze if the books will sell or not. The nice thing about it is you don't have to go looking for freelance jobs, hope someone who hires will pay you etc. The tough part is you need to know how to promote but that is something you can learn if you are willing.

If you know where you are going, consider these ideas:

Contact local paper, offer to write them a weekly column (or a daily blog) focusing on your experiences. Contact local travel agents, they might want to sponsor you,

A sponsor can give a little walking around money, they could use your writing in their weekly ads in weeklie newspapers.

Contact the destinations, let them know you are coming and when, lots of free meals and cool meetings, especially if tied into a travel agent, you work both sides of the streets. When a destination, even a campground knows you are coming and writing in your local paper about or though a travel agency, they roll out the red carpet and you treated like celebs.

Also, let people in your home town know your route, somewhat, and you can offer to take pics of distant family, or look for their old homes, and write about their hometowns as you experience them.

Put your thinking cap on, but my best advice (from experience) is to get a SPONSOR who gives you the play money and they get a benefit from your adventure too.

I'd say blogging is probably the easiest way to make some extra coin with the written word. I'd find a good guide on how to do it properly however in order to maximize your time and efforts.

As suggested in other posts, you should probably start with research.

1) What do you like to write about?
What kind of writing do you like to do?
You can do freelance writing on upwork, iwriter, fiverr, etc. as long as it doesn't become too much like a job to you. There will probably be a variety of topics that you will be writing about. You can also pick & choose which gigs to bid for, so you will have some control.

How can you provide better and higher value to people who need writing done?

Or as suggested by other folks you can write books and publish them on kindle and other publishing sites.

I can see two different sides to it.

a) you don't want it to become too tedious like a job as you want to get enjoyment out of it. Of course there is work involved in everything but you do want to get enjoyment from your work too.

b) you have to treat it like a business and not a hobby and still get enjoyment from it.


2) Is there a market for the type of writing that you like to do?

Here's another suggestion for you....
...you could create a blog about your travels and find matching affiliate offers on clickbank, commission junction, amazon, CPA networks, adsense or and any other ad networks to monitize your blog.

Most affiliate offers provide banners and other marketing tools to help market their offer.

Create relevant social media accounts such as a facebook page, twitter, instagram, pinterest. If you are comfortable creating short videos then you could do that and post them on your blog, on youtube, vimeo, metacafe, veoh and other video hosting sites. Just search for top 100 video hosting sites on google.

You could also create videos using streaming sites like Facebook live, google hangouts, youtube live, periscope, snapchat to name a few.

Extract the audio from your video and upload it on podcast hosting sites like itunes, podbean, libsyn, soundcloud, podomatic, blogtalkradio, etc.

Then you can link back on all of those sites to your blog which has affiliate banner ads that match with your blog.

Also remember that you can search for just about anything on google, bing and youtube.

Start Your Personal Blog Firstly..
The best way to expose your writing to others is by starting your own blog. This will demonstrate your writing skills and proves you are capable of producing content that websites and companies desire.

I agree, start your own blog and just start writing about whatever you want, what inspires you, what you are doing these days, your dreams - just go for it - and in time and with consistency you will have a following. If you have time (like you seem to express) then this is for sure a way to make money as you can then monetize your blog later on when you have some decent traffic. But be aware - this could take anywhere from 6 - 18 months with blogging 3x a week.

I would also write my own Kindle ebooks. If you have any special interests or special skills you could to like a "how-to" book. People are always looking for solutions to their problems. You could also write fiction if that is your interest. I would try Kindle at least. It's one of the easiest way I know to make money online.

You could also offer your services on sites like, Upwork.com and Freelancer. Ton of work there to be had. And yeah you could also write articles. Copywriting is a special skill not all people are so lucky to have and it's one of those skills that some people will pay top-dollar for (if you are good).

But you should start a blog asap.

Then, here are a few ideas:

* writing and selling eBooks on kdpselect.com
* converting these eBooks to audio books on Audible (work with a producer, easy peasy)
* write online courses via Teachable or Selz, focused on areas where you have expertise (perhaps your successful brick and mortar business)
* offer your freelance writing services
* while you're writing posts on your blog, offer sponsored posts (write and publish posts for a fee, for businesses and individuals who want to advertise their opportunity on your blog) or engage in affiliate marketing

These are a few ideas but blogging, and list-building, can really make your eBook and audio book and online courses and freelance writing income streams go. Create helpful content. Connect with leading bloggers in your niche. Build bonds. Prosper.

These sites let you monetize through a combination of word count, fixed price, distribution-incentivized payment, etc.

I just took a quick look at some of my advertising costs for last year and found out I paid three Fiverr writers over a thousand dollars in writing gigs. I am only one advertiser and have spent that much money there, so definitely give that site a consideration.

You can try freelance writing on different platforms like upwork. The good thing is that you can concentrate on topics you like travel blogs. You even be lucky to find one or more people who like your writing and hires you for a long term contract. And of course money flows to your account.

The big money for the written word is in writing sales copy.

If you are good at this you can charge whatever you want.

I'd immerse yourself and learn as much as you can about writing copy if you want to maximize $ / word / hour.

Since you love writing start,

Your own blog and write about your traveling.

Write about each days travels--and take plenty of pictures so that you can include them in your posts.

This solves two problems, first, you will not need to worry about buying photos.

And two,

Your photos can be shared on places like pinterest and facebook, bringing you in even more traffic.

As far as how to make money from it--wait until you have some good posts and then, apply to get an adsense account.

I know some people will say that it does not pay much--and they are right, but, it is the easiest way to make money from your blog.

Eventually you can apply to amazon too.

Which will allow you to sell, tons of stuff related to travel--from camping gear, to camera's

Blogging is the way to go if you like to write stuff.

The best way to make money with "writing" is email marketing.

Therefore, you should strive to make a BIG list and then email your list about 2x per day...

In order to build a big list, I would probably suggest making a BLOG, and turn it into a lead-generation machine, by stuffing it full of optin boxes.

As far as how to actually make money with this, you'll have to sell products on the backend. Either affiliate or your own, probably closely related to copywriting and email marketing.

According to me you should choose one theme Blog many people interested in having visitors each day and put google's advertising.
or a writer is also a good choice.

There are many blogs out there on travelling.. if that's your passion you can earn quite good money writing about your trips. Just promote some related services and products or AdSense on your blog. How about that?

Your best bet is to write a deep dive tutorial that will help brick and mortar business owners accomplish something that you know how to do, and then sell it as an eBook on your site. Kindle pricing is a joke, why get paid $2 a sale when you can easily get $24.95 from selling the same book as a PDF that can be purchased directly from your site. To build site traffic you can write the first draft of each chapter as a blog post. That way you will have an audience to sell your book to when the final draft is completed.

Start creating website for your writing services and drive traffic to get your new customers.

Try searching for work as an online writer. You can be an e-book rewriter, story writer, ghostwriter, web content writer and much more. Just look up clients online who will pay for your services. There are dozens of sites that cater to people who are finding writers for different tasks.

You can sell your articles.
And if you have a high attendance in your blog, then you can try various advertising systems that allow you to monetize your site.

There are various ways to monetize one’s writing than writing a blog. One can be a ghost writer and write on behalf of other publishers. If you are a decent writer and know how to put together great unique content, there are loads of opportunities there.

You'll have to learn about cryptocurrency and about how the Steem blockchain works a little bit when it comes time to cash out, but it's not difficult to turn your Steem into actual fiat currency (cash) that you can spend.

I only play around on there and write maybe 3 or 4 articles per month, and I've been able to pull in $250-$350 per month since I joined last October (2016).

However, there are people who do it full time and they can make $200+ for EVERY article they write. Some people have made more than $10,000 for a single article.

When you first start out you will not make a lot of money because you need to build your reputation score and also your Steem Power up. Like I said, though, if you are willing to work really hard you can easily turn it into a really decent full time income. There are loads of people making over 6 figures annually from it.

I can string a few sentences together, but I'm nothing special. If you really have a gift, you should be able to do real well.

I understand that it takes a couple of weeks to get your application processed these days, but there's no harm in submitting it and then doing other things while you wait.

I think you'd find blogging lots of fun. it just depends on what your passion is...

I do love necroposting, even though some people hate it and think it's useless to answer old threads. But I believe there are a lot of people who have a passion for writing and who don't know how to monetize it.
As for me, there are three possible ways. The first one is to start a copywriter's career. Not that easy nowadays, though might be quite profitable.
The other one is to start a blog.
The third one is to write books for sale.
That's what came to my mind, hope, it helps
