Default Would Like To Determine Keywords Used When Filling Out A Form

Hi. Looking for some recommendations...

I'm using Aweber for an input form on my HTML site and I would love to know exactly what keywords were used by the particular form-filling person to find the site.

Can anyone recommend either a script or service that allows me to track what keywords and search engine an individual person used when they fill out a form on my site? Maybe some kind of trigger based upon when the form is filled out...

I wasn't quite sure if Google Analytics would allow me to do that level of click tracking.

Thanks for any ideas -

Wendell

I think Google Analytics is going to be just the ticket for you.

You will want to have a custom thank you page for your form. That thank you page should have your Google Analytics code embedded on it.

Then you just need to set up the conversion funnel in Google Analytics.

That will give you all the info you probably would be interested in seeing.

If you need help setting up that conversion funnel just let me know.

Take care,
Sage

I don't have a script handy, but if you add a custom field to your form you can grab the referrer with some PHP and send it to the custom field at Aweber. With a little tweak you can also grab just the keywords if the referrer is a search engine. Is this what you are looking for?

Ah. Interesting. I didn't think of populating the form field.

I'm wondering, though: Will the referrer data still be active if the user doesn't get to the form page first? For example, people will probably come to the main page from the search engine and then navigate about before clicking on the form page.

Do you know if the referrer data will still be there for the whole session, even if you navigate from page to page?
