Static vs Post page as a PBN home page?

Hi guys,

Been looking into setting up a PBN recently and one thing that all the guides advise is to set up the home page to show posts and then linking to the money site in the 4th or 5th post.

What exactly is the benefit of this over having a static home page with sufficient content to link from?

Am I missing something really obvious here?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    It's just something someone else made up.

    Just build a normal site and add a link.
