Kindle books that sell for $1 or $2? Brainstorm.

I wonder if there is anything you can put up on Kindle that people need and want to snatch up, like any sort of reference guide or diagram that they will buy inexpensively for $1 or 50 cents. I need mad cash, I can't afford a lot of things I want to do right now.
Like some sort of sailing guide, or tax guide or print a diagram & sew your own kite---something people just want to grab up. Home schooling looks like a topic of interest.
Would anyone be interested in brainstorming together on this? Maybe there are so many articles online or in magazines, people to to Kindle for longer books or novels.

I wrote a few cooking books a few years ago, and put them on Kindle. I didn't think I'd travel the world with them, but I thought they were decent little cooking books and might make something. Nothing. I sold less than 5, and lowered the price to $1 or $2. I'm surprised because it's a decent niche of a diet that a lot of people are turning to!

    Do some deeper niche digging.
    Use Amazon to find a profitable niche. Just go to Amazon bestsellers and look up the Kindle eBook section and you will see tons of categories that you can choose from to dig into.

    Maybe the problem isn't your books but what you did to market them? Remember that writing and putting an ebook up for sale isn't even 50% of the job, you need to market your a** off to sell them. The advice on here about deeper niche digging is good too. For example, in cookbooks alone there's not only cuisine types, but fast/easy meals eg. 15 minute, 20 minute, dietary such as gluten/vegan, specific trends like buddha bowls, power foods and shakes. There's diet books for weight loss, clearer skin, energy, Etc.

    There's a big difference between, "Cookbook" and "Power Foods For The Modern Busy Woman"
    Spend some time on Amazon and see how deep with these niches you can go, you might come across some interesting ideas.

        Be aware of your genre and the sub-sub-sub-genre you're really targeting. Then make sure your cover matches your reader's expectations so the thumbnail generates the clicks.

    Products are all ranked on Kindle - do some homework and uncover the topics that are selling, then put together (or outsource) a 10-20 page guide on that topic. Take the initiative, you will be surprised at the outcome :-)
