An Affiliate Website Kit: Good Idea?

Dear Friends;

I could use your help.

This comes under Affiliate Marketing and I didnt find any specific area for that discussion so Im posting here.

Ive come up with some crazy ideas in the past but sometimes I get a pretty good one, but I just dont know which type this one is.

What Ive done is put together an entire website filled with videos on Internet security. The main focus of this site is to sell Internet security services. Then I got the notion to this site to other affiliates; videos and all. But I wasnt done with that. I would also put together quite a few articles and then turn them into audio files. Then I realized I needed a bribe to get email addresses so I wrote quite a nice little ebook on creating strong passwords that you could actually remember. I even have a webpage that I link to from the book so people can test the strength of their passwords while I show them how to make un-hackable passwords. Of course there are also affiliate links in the ebook and a link back to the affiliate website.

Now the advice I need from you is whether this might actually work or not. I know there has been a lot of talk about putting up websites to sell stuff but most of us dont have that skill. I thought that if people could just buy the site, change the affiliate links and put it up under their own domain it would really help them. The articles, audio files, even the videos could be used on social media to not only point to the website but sell the services on their own.

Oh, I would also make all the original files available too so people could edit it all for their own purposes.

I consider it an affiliate Website kit of sorts with everything you need to immediately start marketing a service that is in the news nearly every day.

But I dont know if there is any interest in it or what I should charge for all this? Im not much of a marketer myself focusing more on being a developer.

Oh, the website is also designed to be used with mobile phones (responsive) so anyone can use it on any device.

Well, Ive ramble on a bit but if you could put your heads together and make some sense of all this and maybe give me some advice it would be really, really helpful.

Thank you one and all and have a great day!

    Hey Larry,

From what i see, you have two options here that you have already thought of yourself, so kudos to you on that.

What I would do in your situation is do a quick google search and figure out the demographics of people who are most likely to have their internet security breached and then market to that audience. I would use facebook ads for that as you can target people better than any other advertising platform. You can either drive traffic to articles that have your affiliate links in them or drive traffic to your lead magnet and start building a list of people interested in being more secure online.

You can also go the route you stated above of selling this "done for you" package to marketers and letting them get their hands dirty. If you're not much of a marketer as you say, this may be the best option...

    BUT...

If you did all the work, have everything made, and the only thing left is getting eye balls on your site, then I would go with the first option and your your own hands dirty and see if it will work. You can never be certain ANYTHING online will work but the only way to know if you have a winner is to try it out.

    Good luck Larry!

    Sonny

Thank you for your advice! I guess I was just thinking short term but I do see your point on how I can directly benefit in the long run.

Sounds like you're talking about a premium version of a "business in a box".

It definitely could work, but I'd think about doing a few different things.

    1) As was mentioned, try it for yourself. If you really are "not much of a marketer", you're a good test subject.

    2) I'd create multiple packages, kind of a good-better-best thing. Good gets the site and the lead magnet, better gets the audios and videos, best gets the rights to edit the materials as desired. Three products, three price points.

    3) I'd look for (or hire made) some good basic guides on drawing traffic, paid advertising, sources, etc. to use as bonuses to build extra value for a business in a box offer.

Know going in that, even if you give permission to edit your materials, most buyers won't. They'll use it straight out of the box, and pretty soon there will be enough duplicate content (for people - I don't want to open the whole SEO argument here) that it will lose it's effectiveness. Which leads to...

    4) If you're into the development, start a subscription service where you develop and distribute additional materials - web pages, email series, lead magnets, articles, videos, audios, etc. You could use a trial subscription as a bonus, too.

      Thanks for your advice.

I guess I was not thinking of using the site to generate traffic. With billions of web pages and millions of sites out there, thinking you can get to be number one is just wishful thinking. But like thinking of the site as a book you lend a friend, then they can tell their friends about it and everyone can read it. Pointing to it via ads may work but just talking about it via social media may be just as good.

As for all the packaging options, over the weekend I thought why not just give it all away. As you said, most wont' want to get their hands dirty editing it so just give away the content with the links. People can use it for membership sites or just give it away as a bonus or whatever.

I wanted to keep this simple and maybe I'm naive but trying to sell information in the age of the Internet sounds even to me a little stupid. Everyone thinks it should all be free and it just appears like magic. So maybe it should and just give it away and see what the "bait" catches me.

Thanks again for taking the time to reply!!

    Friends;

I have another question about another option.

What if I would simply sell all the content as a Private Label Rights package. Something very cheap so marketers could use it in their membership sites or simply give it away as a bonus or something.

Is there a place on this forum where you can sell this type of marketing content?

Since most people would not want to edit anything I needn't include original files.

But how much should I charge and where would I begin?

Thank you all for taking the time to help me!!

Good advice from Sonny Tee, would add whilst doing a search on people most likely to have security problems will I guess be older folk and I would use Bing for targeting.

JohnMcCabe has beaten me as usual (at spotting a biz), you really do have a great sales funnel there waiting . Yes you could do a WSO.

Sorry but I am not familiar with this site at all so when you speak about an WSO I don't know what you mean. And really there is no race to be first, I am more than willing to share. :-)

Thanks for the feedback. Right now I have the domain name and hosting for RUSafeOnline.Com where I have the website up and running. I know the content associated with this site can also be used with the free blogs you mentioned without the need for domains and hosting. That is why I thought about the kit idea. For those who don't have the web knowledge, they can just use the content. For those who can get some hosting, all they need to do is upload the site.

But as I said before, I am a developer, both media and Web, but not much of a marketer and that is why I need some help. What you guys speak about all the time I know next to nothing about especially about making money. Funnels. WSO. No idea. But then we all need each other because we can't all know everything; at least I don't. :-)
