Why Has My Optin Randomly Stopped Working?

Hi WFMs,

I'm in the process of launching a book and I have an opt-in page that directs my new subscribers to the order page for their free book.

I've prepared and tested and tested every piece and part of my funnel and email sequence including the webform and just half way through my launch, I notice that my webform no longer redirects to the desired page.

Instead I land on /process-optin-form/.

It was working fine up until today (or maybe yesterday...I didn't check it recently til today).

I'm using an optimize press page with the subscription element. I've checked to make sure my settings are on postname in wordpress and I checked to make sure https is in my URL link for the redirect after opt in.

Please help me out guys. I need to get my launch back on track ASAP.

What could be broken?

Oh, and I'm using Stripe to host my orders on the page that I want it to land on after opt in. If that's in any way relevant.

Thanks,

Clinton

    Most things are not random.

Go through again and check the links.

It is probably a basic error.

Have you have added a space that shouldn't be there or have you exited without saving.

Did you create a page and then delete it but the link still exists in optimize press?

Have you tested with a clean browser?

Where is the form hosted? - Is it an auto responder issue?

Step by step you will find it.

    Best regards,

    Ozi

Hello, Did you check your landing page manually? Are you getting any 404 error message?

If your page exists then something is wrong with the redirection process.

Can you install prettylink plugin and click a shortlink and redirect to your desired page and it's just to check out if there is nothing wrong in your system and that prettylink redirects fine.

Are you using any caching plugin like W3 Super Cache or W3 Total Cache. Clear your cache and test using a new browser. Hope it helps. Thanks :-)

Will that work with optimize press?

Guys, I've tested this on 3 devices. I've changed checked the link and re-insetted it by pasting straight from the address bar.

I've tried this on Firefox, chrome and edge.

I'll have to check that super cache w3 thing though.

I've also asked getresponse and was told that since I was using optimize press, to ask them. I just submitted a ticked and waiting for a reply.

Why do things like this happen right during a launch?

Oh, and I'm not even landing on any type of 404 page. I just get a blank screen and I notice the extension /process-optin-form in the URL bar

Actually, it depends on the browser and device I use. Sometimes I see 404 error message (I see it more with chrome and IE) and other times it's just blank

I don't know if this has anything to do with it but I just received an email from hostgator saying that they scanned and found malware. They deleted some files.

I would be interested to see exactly what HG said if you care to share.

I can't believe you didn't chase this further down the rabbit hole...

      "Some" is pretty vague.

You need to re-load the entire site (both the WP install AND the database) from a known good backup, before doing anything else.

      Otherwise, you're chasing your tail.

It's not real, there's no problem with HG support.

Live support takes less than 5 minutes for a response.

I have no idea why anyone would use email for host support. If I have a problem now, I want live support now, not sitting around waiting for an email or ticket response.

I've checked to if I have any caching plugins. And no. I can't find anything remotely to do with caching.

I seriously hope I don't have to contact hostgator. Their support is a pain to access.

I notice that HG only has the life chat option. Which would be good if you didn't have to wait forever only to be dropped out. What happened to their simple ticket division? Is there an email I can contact them on or something?

Live Chat is the only way now.

You'll be sold Codeguard when you finally speak with an operator.

If you are tempted to agree, note that it's cheaper to subscribe via the Codeguard site.

You have to use Live Chat with Hostgator.

If you want real help here on this forum you'll need to share the problem URLs. Otherwise we'll all just sit around the campfire guessing.

My guess is you need to view that blank white page HTML source code and see If any code is there, maybe it's a CSS problem. Again, I don't know, I'm just guessing without seeing a URL.

I think there's a bug on that page which is preventing the redirect to the offer page. However if HG has confirmed that there is a problem with that page I suggest you build a new page quickly to replace the affected one.

Maybe a good idea would be to use a safer hosting company that also offers phone support.

I just tested to see if it was something on the order page that could be tripping it. I changed the redirect link to my landing page (itself) and it still does.

I also discovered that at least one of my other optin pages is triggering the same problem and that has a pretty basic than you page.

I also tried creating a new optin element to see if it was something to do with overlay optimizer element I'm using. No luck there either.

If I don't fix this soon, I'm gonna have to abort my book launch and relaunch later. this is really bad timing. This Sucks!

Okay, I just tried the pretty link generator. I'm still getting the issue but after clearing cache and cookies on chrome, I notice that it works the first time or 2 before it does it.

I noticed that even when I was testing different things last night, it was random as to when it would successfully redirect and when it would bug out. I suspect that the first one works and the following ones don't.

Yeah, I'm not sure anymore. I thought it might hae been a caching issue but after trying it on chrome on my android device after clearing cache, cookies and history (just to be sure) it stil does it.

Alright, just thought if update the situation.

I think the link shortening fixed. Not 100% on this and dull suspecting caching issues but now, it seems to work every time no matter what browse Orr device I use.
