Youtube thumbnail hell (please help!!!)

I am having an insanely difficult time trying to get youtube to give me the thumbnail i need for my video.

so far I've tried

- putting the thumbnail at the exact middle

- putting it at the 25% 50% 75% position

- uploading the video seeing which frame youtube chooses and replacing the frame with what i want

none of this is working and I'm loosing my mind does, anyone know any tricks or anything to help me get the thumbnail i want
