Default Affiliate Tracking Quirks - What do You Make of This?...

2 days ago I signed up a client for a domain name, and a hosting account via my affiliate link and a 301 redirect -

- GoDaddy for domain name is via CJ.com, so the affiliate link is on a web page I have, I clicked thru that link and signed up the client for GoDaddy domain.

- BlueHost for hosting via 301 domain name redirect set up to carry my affiliate link.

1 day ago, I went to CJ and BlueHost to check if the affiliate sale was tracked:

BlueHost = Yes
CJ = No

I used the same browser within minutes of each other so no cookie or cache clearing happened.

Per CJ.com, I've emailed GoDaddy directly, but since my affiliate link is via a link on a page I promote in public speaking gigs, it's posible I could be losing a ton of affiliate sales if CJ is "conveniently" not tracking!!

Why do YOU suppose CJ shows no sale?

Any ideas or help? Has this happened to you?

What's your feedback?

Thanks!
David

David,
I'm not familiar with godaddy's program, but maybe this could be because the sale hasn't finalized (maybe the charge has to clear?).

Does godaddy track clicks? Can you see that at least a CTR was tracked at the time of the sale?

I would send an e-mail to godaddy/cj.com with the name and confirmation # for the account you set-up, a link to your page with the link you clicked, and hope they resolve it... Contact your Aff Mgr, they should help you out.

Could be GoDaddy on CJ manually does batch uploads of sales after they clear.

Also there used to be lots of problems with certain anti-spyware programs and even firewalls blocking CJ cookies. They set up a bunch of new tracking domains to try to get around the problem - but it's possible programs now know all the new domains and are blocking tracking from those domains. (Just a guess.)
