Hi Roley
You can find really long tail keywords on the google tool. What you do is start wide and narrow in. e.g. Start with "golf clubs" From the returned phrases choose one such as "Graphite golf clubs"and put that in the search box You should get some longer term phrases that way. You could or course buy a keyword research tool such as wordtracker, nichebot. usw. |

Ken nailed it right on the head. Drill down. Google keyword tool will find you many long tail keywords as long as you use it properly. You can pay for other tools but they are not going to do the work for you.
You need a starting point and then work from there. It takes some work to find them so don't give up after a couple of minutes. Keep drilling down and you can find some gold. Kevin |

You can use the Wonderwheel. Search for "golf balls" on google.com, once the results are shown, click on "show options" just above the search results (to the left).
Then click on Wonderwheel, hope that helps, Eva |

The best keyword tool is your BRAIN.
Brainstorm keywords before you use any keyword tool. Sit down in a quiet location, and think about the people you want to market to. What do they do? Where do they live/ shop/ go on vacation? What magazines do they read? Now start making keyword lists. I use a pen and paper for this, because I like to group keywords on large sheets of paper, so that I can see what I've got at a glance. Once you've got your own keywords you've brainstormed, you can use a keyword tool. Remember that all keyword data from tools is historical -- they tell you what people searched for in the past. They can't tell you what people will search for today and tomorrow. I use Google's keyword tool at https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal almost every day. From month to month, keywords CHANGE in the niches I watch. New keywords become popular, others vanish... From memory, Google says that around 40 per cent of keywords searched on are completely new. (I could be wrong about the percentage, but whatever, new search terms crop up constantly.) I also like to watch the terms people search for on my blogs -- I have a lot of them. I keep lists of keywords people have been search for on my own sites, because they show intent -- they show WHY people reached my sites, and what they want when they get there. Hope this helps. Don't get caught up with the marketing that people do for keyword tools, because the best one really is between your ears. :-) Good luck with your searches. Cheers Angela |

Everyone here pretty much hit it right on the head. There's no magical program that will find them for you. They just assist you. I am learning SEO though the school of hard knocks & nothing is a better foundation then the google keyword tool.
Additionally, I just downloaded Market Samurai (LOVE IT) last night & came accross the best longtail keyword I've ever found. But again, it's base is still the google keyword tool. |
