WordPress Hosting vs Shared Hosting

Anybody have experience with both WordPress hosting and normal shared hosting for WordPress? Is there any difference? Is it worth the extra fees?

Thanks

It depends of the site, of course. But for a normal website, it really doesn't matter.

Shared hosting is, obviously by its nature, the cheapest way of hosting a website. It caters for the basic common needs of a huge variety of websites for a very low price (irrespective if they're WP or not).

Managed WP hosting, caters to a very specific market by offering both highly-tuned, WP optimised servers with a number of advanced services.

This means the managed WP hosting is a technically superior form of hosting in almost every way. You will not be subject to the whims of a shared hosting server or "bad neighbour" syndrome which can lead to memory, bandwidth, processing power and storage all has to be shared. If one website uses far more than its share of memory it can impact on others on that server.

  • Wordpress hosting is shared hosting with preinstalled Wordpress.
    Therefore it doensn't exist difference.

If you have already a blog with many visitors then you can move to VPS hosting, etc.

However this is the list for growing daily visitors:

    Shared hosting (Wordpress hosting)
    VPS (Virtual Private Server)
    Dedicated server
Cluster (multiple servers for same site, solution used from big companies)

If you are solely want to create WordPress blog than I would recommend you to use WordPress hosting. I am currently using managed WordPress hosting from Godaddy. It will give you optimum resources for your WordPress blog.

What are you planning on using the hosting/website for?

To me, that's one of the biggest questions on deciding hosting imo.

With WordPress Hosting you have your own dedicated Domain. Shared hosting is kind of like a domain within a domain, like a free blog (To the best of my understanding) I would however suggest independent hosting with WordPress as the builder tool. That way you can use plugins for better S.E.O, link cloaking and much more "buttons" to play with.

The only difference is that WP is preinstalled on Wordpress hosting, making things easier if you want to make a wordpress site

I can't comment on managed wordpress because I have always used shared hosting for my wordpress websites that I've had in the past.

The good thing about shared hosting is you can install wordpress and add all the plugins, themes and make changes to the files you want then upload them through ftp.

I think there is no difference. While setting up both web hosting plan, wordPress plugin will be installed.

Good Question! WordPress Hosting Servers are far advanced than the regular shared hosting servers.

They are optimized and crafted to enhance the speedy performance of the WordPress websites hosted on it.

I am using managed Wordpress hosting from Accuwebhosting.com and their server delivers WordPress pages really fast.

Not true. There are hosts who offer specifically WP tuned hosting.

    i.e. https://wpengine.com/
