Has Anyone Quit Their Day Job Yet?

Hi all,

Have you guys got out of the rat race?

Starting with me first ........

After the dot com bust, I realize i'm at the mercy of the employers
and I wanted to change that and print my own money rather than
depending on them for the cheque.

Today, I'm finally out of the rat race, thanks to the money
i made from internet marketing.

What's your story?

I feel you 100% about being a employer.I learned that lesson a loong time ago! My story I had a offline installation company, and I got tired of invoicing for work done and not getting paid.So I got fed up and decided to see what this whole internet thing is all about. Now I make all my income from the net. Although this is less labor intensive,it's equally hard work, just with your brain more than your body.

I quite mine in 2001 to do IM full time. There have been good times and times when I was about ready to go back to working for the man.

Overall I think I made the right choice.

I can take a sunny morning off to go to the park or go fishing. I get to spend more time with the kids. I can work when it's raining or everybody else is sleeping.

What else can you ask from life? A job I enjoy and working to my own schedule.

I work online and don´t have a day job anymore. It requires a lot of work and long days in the beginning but it gets easier once you get your name out there. After that it is mostly maintaining, a few blog posts per week, some link building and so on.The best thing is I get to choice when I work.

I'm full time and it happened when I started operating in niches that had nothing to do with selling how to make money stuff to others.

Haven't had one for 10 years. After the dot com bust when all the contract positions I had disappeared, I turned to freelancing graphic design and evolved to selling my own products and flipping sites.

Haven't quit my day job and don't plan to - I must be in the tiny minority that actually enjoys their day jobs lol I work as a marketing representative for a candy company and I love it - plus, I've tried going it on my own before and found that I actually need the structure of a job to get my work done. On my own, I wind up in my pajamas on the couch at 8:00 pm wondering where the day went and why I didn't any work done. I have most things outsourced to the point that running my business isn't very time consuming, but still brings in enough money to substantially boost my income.

I quit my job about 2 years ago because I was a new mom and there was no chance I was going miss out on a minute of baby or toddler hood I had no income to speak of at that time -- but the necessity of getting some and the drive to make this work meant nothing stood in my way...and I replaced that income right away with ghostwriting.

Working on it, and I don't even have a day job. Not a steady one since 2007, though last year I had a 2 day and a 5 day job along with a temp job. I guess making the leap from unemployment to self employment is like trying to lift an elephant with one arm, but I'm still doing it.
