How do I sell my video course?

Hey I'm sure that some of you may be able to help me out here...

I made a video website which has tons of content on it. On this website, I also made a "video course", which has premium content which I charge for access. That's as far as I understand how to market this content though.

I'm interested in somehow packaging this course (which is about 500+ GB of video) and uploading it to clickbank so people can sell it for me. I have a few questions.

Is this possible to do?

Is there any other ways do promote this "video package" to potential affiliates?

Thanks a lot!

  • There are so many ways to do that

But first you need to think more about the product

500 GB is a way too much , you will need to cherry pick out of that(Things that you feel will help the potential customers)

You will need to have different products made out of the 500 GB otherwise it may get overwhelming
unless you decide to have a membership based website where you can drip feed the content .

In order to attract good affiliates assuming this is ur first launch ,you have to make the offer more lucrative (eg 100 percent commission on the front end ) .

I would personally message few super affiliates on Facebook and give them access to my product and let them decide .

Once you have got some buzz going around you will attract more affiliates for sure .

For starters you need to get in few good affiliates first(start with personal message on Facebook) and then take it from there .

If everything goes well down the line you can even launch your product on the bigger scale by
advertising on muncheye(to attract even more affiliates)

    See you at the top

      Hey thanks for the reply!

Thanks for the leads as well.

Regarding the 500 GB thing...It kinda has to be that much, otherwise the course would be incomplete.

I have it packaged as a $47 access right now, and I already made one sale after releasing it onto my website 2 days ago. However, I can't cut down on the amount of video space there is because there only a little bit of "teaching", and a lot of "Now you try" videos which take up the bulk of the course material. Removing the "now you try it" part, would be taking away from the main selling point of the course.

So that being said, is it still possible to package all these videos together and sell them as just one large package?

      Or even still...

Rather then packaging it up as a downloadable file, is it possible to still have people sell access to the course through my website as an affiliate?

The problem with that is that I have a ton of free content on my website, so a lot of people are just going to go there for the free material. Only a small percentage of the traffic will actually buy the thing that I'm selling from the site (access the the course). Therefore, affiliates may not want to waste their time essentially promoting my website.

Would I have to build a whole different site that contains JUST the course material, and use that for my affiliate marketing?

Sorry if this is basic stuff, I've always dealt with affiliate marketing from the other side. I never had my own product before until now!

I don't know if you've thought of udemy.com. I think it's a platform where you can quickly get affiliates to promote your product.

I have heard a couple of things about teachable.com too but then, I still think you should pay some attention to udemy.

500 gb is too much. Like the buddy before me, check with udemy. I've made tons with udemy and then you can siphon the traffic to your site.

Ask me if you have any questions on how to go about it.

It's actually around 350 GB. I double checked.

I can't really reduce the size of the course though, otherwise it will be incomplete.

Why don't you use softwares to reduce the size not the content since it is a video ? I think there are softwares that can do that for you.

    Yes, there is a way.

But this way requires a lot of guts and strong mentality.

And that is to contact your competitors.

As in vendors in your niche.

However for this to work, you need to sign up as their affiliate and help them make a few sales.

Then once you do that, you go and contact them via email asking them if they are interested to promote your product to THEIR mailing list.

The reason I am asking you to do that is because your competitors - especially those in your niche with high gravity in Clickbank or highest sales volume in JVZoo - have a mailing list that is many times bigger than yours.

If you can get just one to blast out an email about your product to THEIR list of hundreds or thousands, you can make a lot of money.

But your product also needs to deliver value as what you promised in your salesletter.

Cool. Ya I thought about doing this too.

My question is about how to get the video course set up such that I can have affiliates promote it for me.

My website is similar to how the Warrior Forum is set up. They have a bunch of "free stuff" on it (the forum), and then they have the thing that they are selling (the war room).

      Now back to my site....

The thing I'm selling is "the course", but then I also have a full website with lots of cool, free stuff to spend hours looking at.

The course is simply just an area of my website which has about 150 - 200 "protected pages". Each of these pages is a link which you can click on, but once you are on the page, it tells you that you must be registered in order to view the content. Once logged in, each of the protected pages contains a video. So when viewed from my website, I have no problems with my distribution method.

My question is...How do I "package" this material together so that I can have affiliates promote it for me? I can't just have them promote my website, because a large percentage of my visitors are just going to visit my website for the free content.

I need a way to separate the "course" from the rest of my website.

      Any suggestions?

      Thanks!

Email marketing as well as social media are great tools but you need to know how to use them properly. If you're not sure on what you are doing, you can just outsource workers that you can pay on monthly basis, just be sure to find the right guy for the job. Odesk and onlinejobs are good way to go to hire these workers.

Wow it is interesting to read the various comments on this thread as to what you can do.

I amazes me that people are suggesting reducing size and all sorts of other options.

You can use so many solutions to serve up your content but you are saying you already have people on your site and they are the ones currently purchasing the content.

As for using Clickbank or any affiliate platform all you really need to do is create the course which it sounds like you have already done.

I'm assuming you have the video content either uploaded to Amazon S3 or Vimeo or Wistia etc and you can serve them to your purchasers via a secured part of your site (membership area) - am I right?

If you haven't got the membership site part set up then you need to look at that part before looking at listing on Clickbank or JVzoo etc.

You can set up a membership site with S2 Member or any number of other Wordpress based solutions.

You can also set up a membership site with any number of paid solutions like Kajabi or Clickfunnels etc etc.

ONCE you have the membership site set up with the structure you want, and you can set up multiple sales pages then you can think about using Clickbank or another network.

If you are using S2 member there is a process to set up the correct parameters for Clickbank as there will be for most membership solutions out there.

Everyone will have a preference for what works best and what they have used.

Personally I've used S2 Member, OptimizePress with their membership platform (very similar to S2) Cloudnet360 - formally PremiumWebCart and Clickfunnels.

I have active memberships working using each of the platforms and using a variety of the affiliate networks including Clickbank and JVZoo..

Clickfunnels has its own affiliate system called Backpack but it also works with any outside affiliate program.

Don't sweat the size of the content.

We have huge video content based memberships with over 80 hours of video in HD running and the size of the content isn't the issue for any member. They are not going to watch *ALL* the content in one go nor are they going to download it all at once. many solutions allow you to deliver the content via "drip-feeding".

If your course is complete and you already have a market for it then adding it to an affiliate network is not that hard.

You will need to develop some affiliate tools - banners, promo emails etc etc - look at what any of the good affiliate products are doing to model them. Most good products have an affiliate or JV page.

You will often find the best sales come from your own traffic and even though you might list on an affiliate network you will still want to promote yourself.

There is a lot more I could go into but others may have some contributions and it may keep for later.

    Best regards,

    Ozi

I'm creating delicious YT content to drive hype / excitement for my video training course. In dealing with a course of this size, i'd strongly consider having your own web app built. You can get a simple ruby on rails site which automatically processes payments, logs user activity, etc. for less than $1,000.

I thought about doing the affiliate thing myself a few months back. After dealing with some "super affiliates" and "wanna be super affiliates" I find that they are most responsive when you are willing to bend over and place your lips squarely onto their buttocks while making a loud smooching sound in the process.

The most powerful affiliate relationship I've had are those where the affiliates come and approach me. If your product is good enough, they'll find you. Success begets success.

Due to the lack of originality in todays' IM space, if your product is good, they'll find you.

Back to original point - controlling and having total control over 500GB of training material would be my paramount concern if I were in your shoes.

Hey thanks for the reply. Everything you said makes a lot of sense. I do need to make sure that I have a successful product first.

However, I'm still hoping that someone is able to answer my question as to how to separate the "course" from my website such that I can have it in a "package form" such that other people would be able to promote for me if they wanted to.

I elaborated a bit more in my last reply above.

Do you know how I would go about doing that?

        1. Create a membership site.
        2. Serve video through Amazon Web Services.
        3. Deliver the videos in a "streaming fashion" behind your membership site Paywall. You don't want to scare people off who do not have the space to download your stuff. I'd bet that 90% of people don't have a spare 500GB for a product on their computer.
        4. Connect all that stuff to Clickbank.

There isn't a single place on the entire internet where you can just click a few buttons and upload 500GB digital product / file without building it yourself.

I will be building exactly what I described here soon. However, Clickbank is not my #1 marketing strategy - but I'll def promote the product there at some point.

One more thing... I just uploaded a video training course to Gumroad. it was laggy and they recommended Handbrake.

i used it to compress my file from 10GB to about 2.5GB

So part of your process should be to compress your video(s) to be a small as possible without sacrificing quality.

        Are you using Wordpress?

If so have a look at S2Member. You can get the free version but you are better off going to the pro version. - the features are listed here: https://s2member.com/features/

Then you have the different user levels set.

        Free user and paid user.

You integrate S2 member with Clickbank or JVZOO or both or whatever payment processor you prefer.

You create the sales page for the paid content and the buy-now buttons are encoded with the affiliate platform id's to pass the parameters along through the process so the affiliates get paid.

You can make as many sales page clones for whichever affiliate network you want to promote on.

You can login to their demo site here and see what settings you need to implement.

        S2Member Demo site

It takes a bit of time to go through and set up but it's not that hard to do.

You've already done the hard part which is creating the content.

You just need to install S2 and go through the settings.

Then list your product. (You might want to set up some affiliate tools and an affiliate area before you list on an affiliate network)

        Best regards,

        Ozi

Not quite sure about the 500.G, you may have to contact the Click Bank Builder Support to clarify that. I'm assuming you're familiar with the Click Bank Builder, since you mentioned the platform? I used it a while back to launch one of my eBooks on Click Bank.

Being quite new to Warrior Forum, I couldn't launch any of my eBooks as W.S.O. Instead I created a classified listing on W.F. Perhaps you may want to explore those options?

It sounds like you are already hosting the content on your website in a protected membership area. Even though the size of the content is 350+GB I'm assuming that you have that uploaded to a hosting service such as Vimeo, Wistia, etc. so that users can stream the content.

If you want to take on the task of finding affiliates yourself or at least offering affiliate capability directly from your site then you could use an a shopping cart with an affiliate feature in order to manage this. SamCart and ThriveCart both have this capability. The benefit here is that you control the entire process. This is probably a good option if you are outside the IM niche with your product.

However, if you want affiliates to find you and your product is IM related then JVZoo might be a good option. Non-IM related options might be ClickBank, Zaxaa, DealGuardian.

Either way in order to be effective you need to build a relationship with affiliates and provide them with tools to promote (copy, banners, swipes, etc).

Also, consider collecting testimonials. Get that one purchaser to give you their honest feedback. Give away a few copies to your website members and get their feedback. Social proof is critical if you really want to sell your course.
