Marketing for Energy Supply Companies. Any experience?

Hi everyone, I work for an energy supply company in Florida. We basically sell electricity and gas.

I am in charge of online marketing for the company. I was just wondering if anyone has had any experience/success doing marketing for energy supply companies. I'm curious what worked for you.

I'm also tasked with setting up an affiliate program for the company. I was looking at ShareASale but was wondering if anyone had any better ideas.

Thanks!

    Hi Steve,

I run an online advertising agency in Florida and one of my clients recently sold their power brokerage firm. Since my client is no longer a direct competitor, I may be able to help you out. Just let me know some specifics of your situation.

As far as the online marketing goes you need to select a strategy and develop a marketing plan that takes into account your company's specific Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats facing you in your target market. Without knowing a little bit more about your company's market position, goals, and current resources I would be doing you a disservice by offering you a specific strategy.

To offer general advice I can tell you that typical online marketing efforts in your sector center around lead generation campaigns. So you might look at developing a series of Landing Pages to test various value propositions and focus on lead generation for a sales team doing outbound marketing. Or, perhaps an inbound marketing system to develop leads, along with marketing automation to nurture leads as part of an inbound marketing campaign.

Let us know what your specific goals are, give us an idea of he resources you have available and maybe I and others can offer you some specific advice.

Thanks a lot for the response. It was very helpful. I agree about collecting leads for the purpose of outbound marketing. And we have been testing landing pages. (I'll tell you though, Facebook Lead Ads are crushing it over landing pages every time for me)

I did setup some autoresponder stuff for some of the leads coming in, but nothing really working great yet. I'm trying to coordinate getting the leads to salespeople to follow up on instead of automation.

I do also need to research where we stand in the market, what are strengths are, etc.. Good advice.

The company is American Power and Gas. (americanpowerandgas.com) The idea is to get someone through the enrollment process. (see the enroll button on the site). No payment info is needed to get them through, just a copy of their electric and gas bill and their account numbers. Sometimes we are the lowest price, sometimes not. So I need to work out a USP like you alluded to because "lowest rates" is not always going to work.

I guess what would be most helpful, is what buttons you have found to work for my target audience, and also what mode of marketing. Be it Facebook, Youtube, Google, etc..

Let me know if you need more info. I appreciate the help thus far!
