I just purchased a product, and just wanted to let others know - my paypal is not the same as my personal email. What does this mean? When you are selling something, don't assume the buyer will be checking those emails regularly. Hit your buyers up with a second AR sign up (after they get to the download page) to capture the email they get regular mail to. That particular email that is currently associated with my paypal is very old and gets ignored for weeks at a time. Anyway, I'm not the only one as my recent involvement in managing a members site I was seeing one email used to pay and another used for those logging into the site. Jill |

I'm in the same boat jill! my paypal account is one I previously used to receive payments for a product i no longer sell, and the email attached to it was a "sales@___" type email address - which I never check anymore since I no longer sell any products through it. |

Boy do I agree with this one! Same as the rest, the paypal email doesn't get checked that often. I wonder if marketers do it, so they can get you on their list right away, so they don't lose you to an optin form? Not to mention, how many people signed up with Paypal years before they even thought about using it to sell stuff? That was me. |

Hi Jill, How are things going at your end? Well, regarding your OP: I have actually tested this in my one of my self improvement niches- Most people have just one email- and they are not juggling many emails. Their PayPal email is generally the same one as their "personal" email. So here's the rub- When I used opt-in forms, some people said that they have already given their email to me while they signed into PayPal. I say- it all varies from demographic to demographic. If you are talking to a nerdy 16 year old, he might never open your email, or may be juggling 20 emails at once. If you are dealing with rich 45 year old women who havea lot of other improtant things to do in life than create email ids, then you know what the best deal is. So my self improvement for executives- that goes to the people who might have a personal email, and an official email, and then a payment email. IMers most definitely have multiple domains, and hence multiple emails. So while what you say is "so" true for some niches, for other niches, one will do well to test. -Lakshay |
