I need your opinion about products.

I have a 5 year old blog. I added a few articles over the years and it is currently holding spots on the first page of google for two different keyword (weight loss related) phrases (over 12 million competing sites). These keywords are getting about 230,000 searches per month.

I want to turn it into an authority site by adding both digital and tangible products to take advantage of the position it is in.

Would this combination of products work?

Thanks for your help,
Frank

  • I don't think just adding products for sale is going to make your site an authority site...

How much traffic is your site actually getting? Sure, searches and position are important, but if none of those visitors are clicking through to your site, maybe you should work on that first...

It´s not a good idea to try to sell something directly from your blog.Get them on your list and send them valuable information and then recommend your products as a solution.

If you aren't selling product, how are you currently monetizing on the blog? With just ads?

Do you have an AR on there somewhere?

Are you doing video blog posts? Don't just write simple text; use videos to pre-sell your products. Then you can take them to a sales letter. Of course, if you have a list, you can always tell them that you have added a new video, and they will flock to see what you have to say.

As for an authority site, you might think about getting a lot of incoming links from articles, videos, and especially, link exchanges with other blog owners in your niche.

Make sure that you take care of the branding of your blog. Use either your name or some memorable word or title that your visitors will be able to mention in their daily life.

          Thanks.
I have done videos in the past and have been thinking of turning some of the articles I have written into videos, but didn't have the time for the cantasia types software, but now there are many programs out there that can help you develop a nice video in a matter of minutes.

About adding backlinks ... I started a few days ago to add at least 10-20 per day.
          Best Regards.

        Thank you for posting.
To make a long story short... I totally abandoned this blog and it basically disappeared from the search engines. I was using it to direct traffic to an mlm weight loss offer. The mlm company is no longer around.

Recently -- because of the problems I had with blogs I use to promote cpa offers (these blogs went from 1st and 2nd page of google to where they cannot be found by searchers), I decided to do a search on some of the other sites I had created in the past and found that this blog had made it back in a big way.

I will add more pages and articles to it over the next few weeks.

I was going to monetize it with Clickbank and Markethealth products, but lately, markethealth has made most of their best selling products into CPA type offers. I want to stay away from cpa offers and free trials for the time being.

        Thanks, Frank

          Ok Frank,

Here is what I'd do. It is just one plan of attack. I'm hoping this is your own domain and your own hosting.

First thing is I'd get some ads going on the site with adsense (or in my case with the other ad networks cause adsense doesn't like me anymore).

Secondly, I'd put together some kind of report and put an autoresponder in the sidebar, as well as create a mini squeeze page for the free report somewhere on the site.

Begin building a list on it. Then you can offer which ever product you would like.

Feel free to add some product review pages in there that directly link to product as well - IE How do I get rid of stretchmarks after losing weight? Post an article about that with link to the product/cream or ebook.

If you are not happy with CPA then by all means drop it and do the clickbank, shareasale, linkshare, amazon, ebay, paydotcom, adsense, etc type thing.

I have decided to go with clickbank for now. I will also add some markethealth products as well. In fact, I just checked my clickbank account and was happy to see that I've made a sale from a link I added last night ....

It's something that most men want to get off their chests ... Man boobs.

            Best Regards.
