New full time VA starting in 2 hours what can they do???

11 replies
I've got a full time VA starting for me in 2 hours. I've dealt with VA's extensively in the past but never had one on full time. I thought it was about time to get serious.

So I'm looking for ideas... what can my VA do today?

What have other people found good tasks to give to VA's, and do you have a system in place to monitor their progress?

So far I've thought of:

- Article Writting/Research/submission
- Twitter Following
- Forum Posting
- Answer emails
- Answer questions on live chat
- Transcribe videos/audio

Anyone got any ideas? What else can they be doing? What have you had success outsourcing?

Liam

    First off, is she versed in what your business is? Have you done the rundown with her?

      I think it depends on what his/her skills are. Use/leverage the skills they already have, unless you are comfortable with them learning on your dime.

      I personally would love to have a VA:
      1. Create accounts for me at social bookmarking sites, video hosting sites, forums, podcast hosting sites, etc. etc.
      2. Re-purposing my products. Assuming they are a quality/native English speaker, I'd have them record my ebooks in audio/podcasts, turn my articles into videos, turn my articles into Squidoo lenses, post on my Blogs, etc.
      3. Load my articles/videos/podcasts, etc. to appropriate hosting sites.
      OK, farm sufficiently sold

    have them do all the tasks you have no time or care for. Create videos with camtasia showing them exactly how you would like it to be done and let them go at it!

    Ask them to be on Skype for as long as they are working so you can get in contact with them if you need to.

    You need to formulate a PLAN.

    Your VA should have days worth of work to do for you if you have so much extensive experience.

    You should've already had 8 hours worth of tasks lined up for your worker!

    Best of Luck

      You hired a fulltime VA but you don't know what you want them to do?

      If you don't know what your employee(s) should be doing why do you think we will?:confused:

      VA = Virtual Assistant or in other words a freelancer.

      A VA/freelancer can work ANYWHERE in the world.

      In any case, they WORK FROM HOME!

      However, whenever you hire a VA/Freelancer, they must be able to compliment your business in whatever capacity that is that YOU decide on and should be on the ball (can be trainable)/or at least have experience on what your needs are!

      In any case, and in my professional opinion, be focused, business-minded, curious, have a thirst for knowledge, wanting to learn more and invest in furthering their knowledge and have incredible drive and motivation, in order for you to BOTH succeed in YOUR business!

      Hope this helped!

    Thanks for the ideas guys.

    She has done plenty of work for us in the past I just thought why not put her on full time because I hate it when help isn't at hand.

    I think I can keep her busy with article writting!

      But if she has already worked with you then she would know enough of the side of your business that you exposed her to. Why don't you simply build on this asset - that is, her experience - and focus on other areas yourself?

        * Backlinks

        * Keyword research

        * Editing / proofing

        * Entering info into Quickbooks

        * Running reports

        Also, find out what your VA is really good at and take advantage of that. Maybe he or she is a good writer or really enjoys research.

        Anything that is on your "To Do" list but keeps getting pushed back should be delegated instead of leaving it on your list, to continue carrying it over to another day.
