Well, I do a maintenance review of all my systems, sites and products to make sure they are in place and running smoothly.

Reflecting on your question I assume you may be questioning what you do and by comparison what others do. I would thoroughly recommend that yo take a good look at Time Ferriss's book

The 4 - Hours Work Week.

It's NOT about just working 4 hours a week. But It will help you steer your use of time to the maximum benefit for what time you want to use.

If that's what you're after, I'd suggest things like generating, collecting and collating various metrics. Things like (as mentioned above) checking on site performance, speed and availability. Analyzing paths taken through a site. Generating actually useful reports from server logs.

Then there's things like scheduling content, monitoring and collecting responses, etc. Alerts based on user selected criteria.

Basically, the boring but necessary mechanical tasks that computers do faster and better than humans.

As far as my own daily tasks, they include handling email, scanning several dozen RSS feeds to both get ideas and keep up to date in my markets, etc.

Posting to Social Networking Sites, replying to customer queries, keeping in touch with customers and clients are some of the repetitive tasks I do daily.

Performing repetitive tasks typically produces boredom, which can result in errors and mistakes. To alter your routine, challenge yourself to get the job done more efficiently. This helps the time go by faster and you usually get more done. When possible, use technology to your advantage and automate tasks using the tips, tools and techniques provided by software and hardware. Avoid dwelling on the negative aspects of repetitive work and keep a positive attitude.
