Monetizing a spiritual and a greeting message website

INTERNET MARKETING

I am working on a funny greeting messages website and will also have a spiritual website about life after death .I have been advised here in this forum to offer the greetings for free and monetize the site and that's what seems like a good idea and what I am going to do.But I want to monetize both websites either through google adsense or other ways available .I would be quite happy with just a few hundred dollars a month (combined from both sites).I really would be quite happy with 200 or 300 dollars because in my country that's a lot .Ofcourse anything more than that would be a bonus .I know that some niches make more than others and some don't make any at all so please inspires me a bit.

1.Can I monetize them enough to make just a few hundred bucks atleast from both combined ?

2.What are my best options ? For example Google Adsense ? Other good options ?

Would appreciate help from those who actually know (Question 1 is really important )

Hi Navid,

First go with adsense, if you are having a pretty descent content and getting some good quantity of visitors, then you can definitely generate your desired income, indeed 200$ to 300$ a month is pretty below average for an average quality blog.

But remember, google will never permit for adsense if you promote any thing in your website rather than providing information.

  Thanks for the encouraging feedback .The amount I mentioned has become a necessity and in my country it would help a lot .Will adsense be ok with me selling my E-book about life after death on the website itself ?

  You're able to post on a forum, so you're able to follow the advice that's already been given to, and to look into ebooks.

I would say go with google adsense first but i doubt if you'd be making $200-$300 off of it anytime soon mate.

But it's a nice start by putting adsense on it - but I'd say build a list for both your greeting and spiritual sites - build a relationship with your audience. Send them free greetings and ask if they want to get a lifetime access to funny greetings for $...

Navid,

Funny sites, greeting sites, quote sites, joke sites, etc are difficult to monetize for several reasons:
- There is huge competition and breaking into the market as a newcomer requires that you have something very special or quite unique that will draw newcomers;
- Viewers don't typically come to such sites ready to buy anything - they are there for entertainment sake;
- In order to make decent money with Adsense, you have to be able to drive lots of traffic because the Adsense payout is so small per click
- The premise of getting traffic in order to make money by sending it away (on an Adsense ad) is not conducive to building a list or serving a distinct niche - it makes your marketing typically focused on new visitors. Sales are usually more efficient when you're audience is repeat buyers and subscribers
Personally speaking and if I were you and wanted to make money online, I would set up a niche site and fill it with great content, build a list of subscribers, and sell them my own information products. Making $200-300 per month with this model, IMO, would be more realistic than with the plan you have.

  Thank you for the honest opinion which is what will truly help .I had my doubts about the greeting site but will still do it as form of passion anyway .I will try with the life after death site...Any good chance with that consider I want to sell my E-book on it too

I've really nothing to add to what Steve has said regarding adsense but as an alternative have you thought about POD (print on demand). You could put your funny images onto t-shirts, mugs etc.

I work with a few authors who make a few extra pennies using sites like redbubble.

One of the main advantages of these types of sites its that they have their own traffic source and it only costs you when you sell.

  You can sell posters, tshirts, cups all sorts on these type of sites and each with your image, slogan or cartoon on.
  
  As a designer you simply upload your image to the site.
  
  The website print and send the product to the customer and send you the money minus any cost and fees.
  
  It's still competitive and there is no guarantee that you will sell but it's an alternative.

Buddy, this niche is pretty hard to monetize, but maybe twitching the way you do things could give you an advantage.

Why not make it a community website? Like aside from you, other people can share their experiences as well? In this way, you can invite more traffic and have your website up for Google Adsense.

Aside from this, you can also sell apparel such as shirts, jackets, beanies, etc. that have a statement (could be a funny quote or greeting) or characters or prints. By doing these, you can possibly earn even more than 300 bucks.

  I can't do anything that requires physical work because my physical disability would make that impossible
  
  But your first suggestion, how about sharing other peoples articles on my website (one with an appropriate name say like www.your-articles.com) and in return ask for a dollar a month .They can all take part in helping me to get traffic .1 dollar a month from a few hundred people would help me a lot
