Seriously? In sigs now, too ....

Here is part of the sig rules that might apply:

(2) You are only permitted 1 color in your sig file, this can be any color so long as it's black (hyper links can be blue as they come up this way on the board)

(3) Sig files may only be written in the normal standard font size.

(4) You may bold or italicize but that's it.

-- the characters are blue (link) or black (#2)

-- the characters might meet (# 3)

-- the characters are bold (#4)

No mention of characters.

Loophole or non-issue?

Totally discriminatory against pink. I find it a disgrace that the WF has taken such an anti-pink stance and have instigated legal action. My lawyers at Hinkelbottom and Fliegelmeister will be contacting Mr Says this week.

Pink! Pink! why would anyone want pink? I agree pink should be banned. Green, orange, purple, red, yellow, blue all should be allowed, but not pink. :rolleyes:

The rules already cover this Kim:
(3) Sig files may only be written in the normal standard font size.
You can use the report button for any that don't fall into that category.

I feel really stupid asking this, but how people do those kind of characters anyways?

I see them on wso's with square blocks, triangles and other sorts of bold symbols and shapes. How is it done.

If you are using windows you can do it with Character Map, it can be found in Accessories > System Tools (if it's not there you can add the Character Map tool from Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel, it should probably be there if you are on vista)

They are probably ASCII codes, used by holding down ALT and typing on the numpad 152, 153, etc whatever the coresponding codes are.

Those characters ARE against WF rules. I used simple ASCII Art a few
weeks ago, made up of perfectly 'legal' characters, and my SIG was
barred.

I believe that if you add a URL to a WSO to your sig, and the title of your WSO has those funny characters, it's the forum software itself adding the characters to the sig, as vBulletin has a function to grab the page title and use it as the anchor text when URLs are included.

Yep, I bet that's what's happening -- folks are just pasting in their WSO links directly.

However, for those who are doing it... that's a reason but no excuse. A little bit of BB forum code will clean that sig right up so it adheres to forum policy. Anyone who knows how to use those crazy characters surely can figure out how to use BB code.
