Default You count visitors, but do your visitors count?

Get it? Play on words?

OK, so normally I spend an hour or so on Sundays planning the coming week. Yesterday I got distracted by the BENGALS WINNING and so I am doing my plan this morning.

I thought this might be helpful to some people here.

As part of my weekly plan I go through all my stats to see how many unique visitors I've had, how many signed up for a list, how much money they made me, etc.

You probably do something like that too.

But there is an important sub-statistic (if there is such a word) you need to pay close attention to: How many unique visitors were provided with an opportunity to take an action leading you to make money?

Just because you had 1,000 visitors to a blog doesn't necessarily mean you had a good week. I have seen blog owners who boast about their traffic and are still broke.

The key metric is how many people were presented with an opportunity to make you money and how many actually took it.

While many of you figured that out a long time ago, I'll bet this is news to a few here.

That's why so many of us spent more time testing offers

"Before you want to grab more visitors, you better learn how to make cash with the ones you got."

Discover MiniSiteBox -- Yes, You get Professional Minisites... but you don't have to spend what others charge you for a "I've seen it before!!" sales page.

We just do our stuff from scratch. You just sit and cash in.

This is a great point. If you look at a funnel simple, you have
  • Leads
  • Prospects
  • Sales
What you're essentially saying here is that many sites exists which don't even qualify the user to become a lead, let alone a prospect.

Its all about getting people to buy or sign up for your list once they come to your site. You could have all the traffic in the world and if no one is buying anything its all pretty much worthless. Imagine thousands of people entering brick and mortar stores and just looking around and walking out without buying anything. How long would those stores actually be in business? Not very. If people aren’t buying you might as well have Dionne Warwick’s “Walk on by.” playing on your webpage/blog.

One of the things that amazes me is how often internet business owners APOLOGIZE for asking for the sale.

Look, I'm in business. Sure if you sign up for my list you will get valuable free information, but I am also going to ask you to buy things from me on a regular basis. I never apologize for making a profit.

some nice observations in here.

It's always better to have 10 targeted customers who will buy than just any 100 random people who come to your website.

Heh, Nice play on words!

I agree -- It's much more important to have targeted visitors who are looking to buy what you're selling than simply tens of thousands of visitors who are random surfers.

Nice post. Having said that, I'm a writer rather than a marketer. However, I'm well pleased that even though I only promote one site, I've at least made something. What strikes me is that I've done it without any type of marketing knowledge whatsoever. It just goes to show.... if there's a will, there's a way ....
