Writing is one skill! You can practice by starting a blog in the area of your interest. You can also check out the copywriting area of warrior forum in terms of beginning to learn to write sales letters.

    Hey grea12

There are a few skills needed to be an internet marketer.

    1) Basic copywriting skills.
These aren't just for salesletters you can use them for emails, blog posts, facebook posts, anywhere where you are speaking to your target audience.

    2) Research skills.
Essentially as an internet marketer you are an online 'problem solver'. You find a common problem that a market has and you research the solution for your products and services. You also need to know your market inside out to know exactly what their pains and frustrations are.

    3)Relationship skills.
People skills are important, when dealing with customers and possible JV partners. You need to know how to deal with people.

    4) Basic technical skills.
You don't have to be a technical whizz (trust me i'm not) but you need to know basic stuff (registering domains, setting up hosting). You can outsource all this but it's handy to know how to do it yourself.

Most importantly you need to be Voracious reader/learner. Be prepared to devour copious amounts of information but be careful to not get stuck in learning mode.

Make sure you apply everything you learn and be persistent.

It's unlikely you'll become a success overnight but stick with it and you'll get there

Hello! Actually when talking about techincal skills, i know XHTML and CSS, so yeah that's it, the rest is something that i want to learn.

I myself, do not believe in a success overnight when it comes to do business, that's why i want to learn these.

    I'll add Observation.

You don't need to know how to do everything in order to have a profitable business. You just need to be good at picking one workable system, learning how to do it, then repeating what you know over and over again to make money consistently.

When you learn to be good at observing what's going on here at the forum and other places online, you will understand that there are smart marketers making a lot of money without all the hype and drawing attention to themselves. These are the people I would observe, learn from, and follow. They have already blazed the money trail and if you study what they're doing (again, by being observant) you can follow in their footsteps.

Good luck to you in your new chosen career.

    This is a tough one.
I've seen many different people from very skilled and different backgrounds succeed, and many others with the same skillsets fail.

I think the biggest thing is soft skills around learning, persistence and self-motivation are very important. Most of the rest you can learn.

For myself, I have a technical background so anything to do with websites, programming, etc isn't much of a challenge, I wish I had a better marketing background, but then again, we often wish for what we don't have

If you ask me, the most important skill is SELLING.

And to sell on the internet, you have to learn Copywriting.

Not being biased as a full-time copywriter myself, everything starts with Marketing and ends with Copywriting on the internet.

To know what to do, you need to be a marketer.

To know how to do, you need to be a copywriter.

Basically, you need to write copy. I don't mean that you need to be Donald Draper, but at least it should not contain grammar errors. For example, avoid on FIVERR a person that has on their profile page.

Organization and management. You really do not need any of the skills mentioned here, but you need to be able to recognize them in someone you want to hire.

IM and MMO are not the same ! IM is everything on the web offline and online

MMO is about making money online

Offline is bricks and mortar in most cases , including home businesses

A lot of the most important skills revolve around:

Product Creation(reports, books, videos, audios, etc.)

Selling(copywriting, email selling, affiliate marketing, etc.)

Of course, there are a ton of different skills within those 2 categories...too many to mention.

There really is no one skillet for IM as the method you choose will decide what skills you need.

A blogger may need to be knowledgeable, engaging competent writer with web design knowledge and a know how of social media and article distribution.

A person in CPA may only need to know how to drive traffic to an offer. This could be seo, free or paid advertising (or any combination). Whilst the blogger might benefit from the skills of the CPA marketer the CPA marketer has little need to be a 'knowledgeable engaging writer'.

I'd always encourage learning how to sell and why people buy but even that isn't an absolute skill.

I find that you dont really need a lot of skills other than like you said, taking action. Which perhaps is perseverence.

Money isnt made in minutes or days, it takes months sometimes years. I've been doing this for the past 6 years part time now and I've realized that I need to set small goals like $500 this month rather than $30,000 by the end of summer.

    .
The only skillset I can give you is your mindset.

    Why are you in business?

What can you provide to your target audience?

And most importantly, who and what business model are you targeting at?

Because internet marketing itself is a very broad niche. It is like telling people that you want to set up my own business and make money offline.

    But which business and industry?

Are you intending to set up a shop, office or cafe?

Likewise, in internet marketing, do you intend to focus on affiliate marketing, info product creation, e-commerce, mobile apps or local consulting?

If you are new, I will suggest you do affiliate marketing starting with list building, email marketing and placing ads.

But then you and other marketers here might have a different viewpoint and preferences.

DigitalMarketer identified 8 core skills they take all their staff through.

Some become specialists in certain areas but the 8 core skills as per their certified training is as follows-->

Conversion Funnels & Customer Value Optimization

    Content Marketing

    Paid Traffic & Customer Acquisition

    Social & Community

    Email Marketing

    Search Marketing Mastery

    Analytics & Data Mastery

    Optimization & Testing Mastery

DigitalMarketer provides training in each of these and they've added a ninth which is Ecommerce based.

Most people tend to get by with a portion of those skills listed but it helps to develop all of them over time or employ people who are specialists in each area.

    Best regards,

    Ozi

I would learn to drive traffic and generate leads/email lists. Most everything else you can outsource if needed or eventually you could build a team.
