Default how to structure an affiliate program

Hi,

I'm wanting to put together an affiliate program for my site. It's a service targeted toward webmasters. I'm looking for some advice on it.

Currently the site is in a free beta, so I can't start it yet. When it's out of beta, I want to offer several plans. The service is sold on a monthly basis. There will be several plans.
  • Free, limited plan
  • Standard, around $10/month
  • Pro, around $25/month
So I'm trying to figure out how to structure an affiliate program that people would actually be interested in promoting. One of the questions is whether I should offer recurring commissions, or just a larger one time commission. Since we haven't launched the paid plans yet, we don't know how long people will stay using the service on average, so we don't know the value of a user yet.

Also, should I use one of the larger affilate systems, like ClickBank, or use our own affiliate software?

Any advice is appreciated!

Thansks,

Daniel
