Need Kompozer Help! Argg!

Hi all you genius Kompozer users,

I feel confident somebody can provide the answer I seek on a perplexing situation building a website.

I downloaded Kompozer (version 0.7.10) and have built 10 pages. I desire to build a site rather than just a bunch of single pages. However, it will only allow me to save one page at a time. I have 10 pages that I'd like to upload. It seems like there should be an easier way to do this.

Please share your genius those of you experienced at this.

Thanks for your help.
Susan

Careful with Kompozer, it's an awesome product but it breaks form code.. Opt-ins, contact us etc...

secondarily, if you open each document and press 'publish' you should be ok.

But in all seriousness, check out seamonkey.. It's html editor isn't bad.

The publisher is not compatible with a lot of hosts. What I would recommend is to download total commander (google it) and ftp your site to the server.

I would recommend first building your site, and the bulk uploading the pages using an FTP client like FileZilla. =)

For me Kompozer was one of the most frustrating and finicky pieces of software i ever made the mistake of using.

    Why?

    It's immensely and inherently buggy.

If my memory serves me correctly Susan I don't think you can have multiple web pages uploaded (FTP'd) to one webpage on your hosting servers.

As has already been said upload each page one at a time, preferably with Fillezilla Client because it's free, fast and does a great job, but don't forget to link them up correctly. So, for example, when someone clicks on the 'about me' tab they get sent to the' about me' page, not the 'testimonials' page.

    Hope this helps.

    Garry.

Create a new folder for your website. Everything you'll be using or creating like HTML pages, images, pdf files, zip files, etc., place it in that folder. Everything is just point and click from there, as long as you have the files in there before attempting to hyperlink, insert images, etc. Kompozer's FTP is buggy, use Filezilla or some free FTP software. Just upload everything in the folder (not the folder) "as is", press ctrl + a.

Hey Susan..Want the easiest way to learn Kompozer? No one learns better than watching over the shoulder videos.Kompozer is the new name for NVU.You can get all of the tutorials you would want to view on U-tube.I learned it very well indeed from watching the vids there.
Just enter "NVU tutorials" or "NVU videos" in the search and you are off and running.

You should always save your work in a folder on your computer. Create a separate folder for each website, then arrange image folders, etc inside - as you want it to be on your site. After creating in Kompozer and saving to this folder, use FTP or the hosting company's uploader to upload.

Having everything saved on your computer, you can easily edit later.

Kompozer/NVU too buggy for me... crashes all the time, very unstable for my needs.

I tried coffeecup html editor but it didnt have some basic features I was used to. Now, I use Microsoft Expression 3. It's bloated but it works and doesn't give me any problems.

For quick updates and minor tweaks, I just use Cpanel's built in WYSIWYG HTML editor

    Why are you using that??

Why is anyone using a off site HTML editor??

What web hosting service are you using?

Can't you find a decent template at your hosting service or on the net?

Are you coding line by line or something like that?

Aren't you using display mode to put content on your pages?

Why is anyone using it and not a pre-made template??

Why upload pages when you should be able to create the pages right at your hosting service??

    Someone please explain???

Struggle along with Kompozer or another freebie until your business has some income, then buy something like MS Expression Web or Dreamweaver. You'll thank yourself. Kompozer will screw up your code. I tried using it to edit WordPress themes, since it has WYSIWYG CSS editor, but I soon learned not to import the code directly. It's fine for real time viewing of style changes, but, but you want to do the final file changes by hand.

I started off with Kompzer but as stated previously it became difficult use as you become more accomplished in using an editor. I graduated to Coffee Cup but outgrew that one too. I now use Dreamweaver and I kick myself for not going to it sooner. It would have saved me a lot of time and aggravation.

I use KompoZer ... in the style of David Letterman...my biggest complaints about Kompozer

    10. It doesn't have a "save all" command
    9. It doesn't have an option that periodically will back up your files
    8. It doesn't read files ending in .php
    7. It doesnt' allow you to edit files that have iframes in them
    6. You have to be careful about saving, especially when switching from visual to html editor
    5. It doesn't save modified files for recovery if it crashes
    4. It seems to have an annoying habit of losing css rules that I add within it
    3. It screws with how I format my html
    2. For some weird reason, when it re-formats, my html, it sometimes breaks at a space, and then deletes the space
    1. It crashes a bit more than I'd like it too. (Less often than OpenOffice Writer, in fact -- and I keep discovering new ways that will cause it to crash -- so I can avoid them.

    0. No one, but no one, seems to be updating the dang thang.

Nevertheless, there are many VERY cool features, many that I rarely hear talked about. Even a website designed specifically for KompoZer tutorials. And there is a forum, so you can ask questions and maybe get answers.

The one thing that frustrates me the most is that it crashes AND doesn't periodically save my files for me. As long as I remember to periodically save the files (I suppose they'd all be saved if I also periodically quit and re-started KompoZer. Oh wait, it would be cool if it would open up a bunch of files in the editor -- that you could have "workspaces."

    Okay -- but I'm still a fan.

Especially of the css editor and all those cool little tricks hardly anyone talks about.

(Yes, someday I may just do that....I've been thinking about it...)

    Live JoyFully!

    Judy

PS - Templates? And use someone else's ugly html ??? YUK.
