How could would you promote this?

I'm looking at a niche (sunglasses) found some promising keywords, based on the number of searches vs. competing sites.

With the exception of adwords I can't come up with many good ideas to promote the site I would have... I'm holding back on jumping into this niche until I get this figured out.

So how would you promote this??

I've been studying and working a lot on lateral marketing lately.

If you have some good keywords it's of course a first good step to promote those keywords through traditional means. Article marketing, back links, social networks, etc.

However, for potentially competitive niches like glasses, another great route to promote your site is to think laterally. Ask yourself who needs glasses and target them. Think about the demographic.

The first thing that comes to mind are senior citizens. Perhaps people over the age of 40. Think about where they hang out, what they like to do. Some others might be those that like to read a lot, maybe people that work with computers.

So I would take this information and then write and promote articles that targets those people as a next step.

It's all about addressing peoples needs, whether they realize they need it or not. I don't think of marketing as a linear process. It's this type of thinking that allows someone to achieve the coveted 'outside of the box'.

You're talking about eyeglasses -- yes?

How about employing the 9 most powerful words in marketing...

"Who already has the audience you want to reach?"

JV with non-competing biz's who (already) cater to the audience you want.

Doesn't have to be online either.

    Cheers.

      Sorry folks,

The niche is sunglasses... not just plain ole' glasses

The site would most likely be a feed off of Amazon products.

I'm stuck on ways to market a site with physical products online using the traditional article marketing, etc. I know Adwords could work, but I would like to keep this as low overhead as possible.

Not online ideas -- but... become the "official sunglasses" of...
    Sporting events
    Travel agents
    Vacation destinations
    Golf courses
    Rock bands
Radio stations in extremely sunny places (PHX, LV, LA, etc.)

    JV with them

Look for hispanic men and women between the ages of 18-34 that have kids, a college degree and make $60-$100k per year... detailed enough?

I got the info from: quantcast.com/sunglasshut.com

There are plenty of fashion directories you can exchange links with.

Also there are a ton of fashion blogs you can comments on.

Maybe there are some keywords that indicate research buyers are doing various types of sunglasses?

It all has to do with your keywords that you use in your content. Personally I would do some video marketing and use traffic geyser to blast your videos (syndication). Here are some keywords that I could rank for on the first page of google with between 2000 and 5000 searches per month and less than 98,000 Pages

      "bono and sunglasses"
      "oakley sunglasses wholesale"
      "cheapest oakley sunglasses"
      "cheap oakley sunglasses"
      "fake oakley sunglasses"
      "pugs sunglasses"
      "johnny depp sunglasses"
      "shark wearing sunglasses"
      "native sunglasses"
      "ray ban sunglasses online"
      "cheap designer sunglasses"
      "reading sunglasses"
      "bifocal sunglasses"
      "hd sunglasses"
      "discount designer sunglasses"
      "costa del mar sunglasses"
      "clip on sunglasses"
      "persol sunglasses"
      "gargoyle sunglasses"

      Hope this helps.
