How do you Decide on the "style" or format of a new product?

Let's say you have all of your content ready to go and you have maybe 25 videos to go with it.

Which format would you choose and why?

1) Downloadable ebook and DL able videos
2) Members only website with access to all online
3) Combination of the above 2
4) Membership with low back end fee

If there is another format type - please xplain it and why you would use it.

I have pondered this for some time and cannot figure out which is the best. I personally do not have a preference as long as I get to the info.

What about you?

I usually go for #1. It may not be the best solution but I like it because it's quick, simple and easy to manage both for me and my customers.

      Question:

I agree as far as the ebook but if you have 25 sizable videos - that could be a strain and also cause DL problems. Imagine the customers service nightmare...

Hmm, if they're big videos then it could be a problem. If you're happy installing and setting up a membership script then it's probably best to do that instead.

Just host the videos on your site without people having to download them... use a simple membership script (like membershipease.com)... Downloading huge files is a pain in the a** - remember, not everyone has the same pc speed as you.

I'm in with Sean's reply as I have found out that people with older puters have difficulty in the waiting time of the downs.Try to see if you can shorten the downtimes by formatting the vids differently. As swf maybe. If you have a vid encoder give it a try. Otherwise I'd stick with site rendering them.

Dare I say it depends on the product? I feel that for certain products (ie SEO, internet marketing) getting tons of free information is a plus. However, for others, they're just good optional bonuses. So I would say a combination of the two, with some videos for the purpose of showcasing your stuff.

So - maybe the best bet is an online tutorial with videos embeded and also some pdf downloads with links back to the membership protected site?

    Hmmmm....

Free for the first 60 days and then $7.95/month? Maybe I'm getting an idea???

With lots of videos, I just put my Traffic Generation Lab Workshop on DVD. It's quite easy, reasonably priced, and better video quality IMO. Plus, your customer gets something they'll actually use, compared to digital stuff that they lose on their hd.

When I buy something I like the vids to be instant and not have to download them so in a hosted members area is easier and more manageable for everyone imo.

Also in the members area you could offer other related affiliate products to further your income.

        Also,

        Hey Kevin,
Did you use Kunaki, Vervante or something else for the dvd?
Where can I check out the dvd?

I have a programmer working of a piece of software that auto submits videos to the video hosting sites for video marketing and I think I will offer it as a one time payment with the training videos in a members area and then I will have a dvd for sale in the back end "Free plus shipping" to get the addresses for the customers for offline stuff later.

I was curious as to what you used for the dvd so I could get a review of them.

Great thread because I was just deciding on this for my current project.

        Talk to ya all later.
