New to internet marketing and need some help

I'm here because I'm new to internet marketing and need some help. I'm not here looking to get rich quick, I'm only looking to supplement my income and hopefully pay off debt. I'd like to start by becoming an affiliate with Amazon and a couple other sites I've researched. I have purchased a couple domain names and was lucky enough to get .coms in my chosen ideas. I want to direct most of my attention towards Instagram and Facebook because I don't think I'm ready for videos just yet. Now, I've been reading pages and pages of information and watched countless videos on the topic of building a website and they all say how easy it is and how you can have your site up and running in less than an hour, but I've spent several late nights on this and I'm stuck. I have no idea how to build a page. I want it to be mobile friendly as well. I'm sorry for the long post, but basically I'm asking for someone to hold my hand to just get started lol. Thanks.

Do you have a website and a niche already? When you say you want to be an Amazon affiliate what are you thinking of actually?

It's the website building that I'm stuck on. I have a niche and a domain name with that niche in mind. I just have no idea how to build a a web page that is easy to scan through especially for mobile use.

Are you using Wordpress? If so, what theme? Most of them are mobile responsive.

Why are you interested in being an Amazon affiliate? Their commissions are terrible, in my opinion.

Well, that sounds much like you need to have someone do it for you then. Well, of course that depends on how bad you want this, like in a few weeks from now or in a few monthssss... In the case of the latter you can always take the time to learn how to do it and or what are your options in the way to do it.

I've been developing amazon affiliate niche sites for years, in the like of the one I'm giving away right now. You can always buzz me if you have questions.

Good luck in your research and learning

This will cost you $5 but you should get some results also asked for demos they have done and contacts to asked if they are true and get some feedback

First, make sure you're climbing the right mountain.

If your goal is to make money, as you say in your post, than ask yourself the question on what is the most important skill set to acquire. Is it learning how to build a website?

There are many, many people out there with great technical skills who make virtually nothing online. Don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with learning how to build a site but you can get it done for you relatively cheaply.

Building a real business online requires a different skill set.

For what it's worth, if I were advising someone new where to start I wouldn't tell them to try and make money as an affiliate of amazon, it's highly unlikely you are ever going to generate a decent income and the vast volume of sales needed (because of the very small margins returned).

I would advise them first to investigate the various business models online as there is a huge difference in difficulty and possible returns. Just saying.

Whatever you do, good luck with your ventures.

    • Hi Kashyap,

SEO and Internet-Marketing websites are as diverse as pears and oranges. Nevertheless, these two websites interact of expanding an internet business, for your better benefit. However some people use both of these phrases each system serves a unique specific function. Thus, it's vital that you recognize that if a company focuses more using one software as opposed to other it doesn't benefit its Internet strategy or the company's success.

I think you got your answer.

Thank you all for the responses. I'm a member of many forums for all sorts of subjects and this is by far the best response I've ever gotten. I purchased my domains through hostgator and began the WordPress process and that's where I got stuck. I will have look for the tutorials and try that. I decided to try Amazon just to gain some experience. I realize the profit margin is very small, but it's also very low startup cost. I think part of my problem is I'm just getting information overload. There's hundreds of videos on YouTube that give you just a teaser and some success story to get you excited then make you buy their program in order to continue. I figured I had at least half a brain I should be able to do this lol, but apparently I was wrong. Again, sorry for the long post but thank you all for your input.

Again, thank you all so much. I've looked into the Bitcoin idea as well and may take that direction too, but it's not the affiliate marketing idea that I don't get it's the building a good website that I'm having trouble with.

Get as much information on affiliate marketing online as you can. Once you've accomplished that, decide on a niche that you're knowledgeable and passionate about. You then build content around that niche.

Check out these WordPress page builders.

I personally have never used them. But I know someone who uses Elementor and also likes Beaver Builder.

However, just getting a theme may make more sense.

Hi Frozensmoke, before you continue building on the website, it may help if you validate first your niche. Do you really have market for that niche?
It would be useless if you build a website, spend on the content and at the end, there is not enough market on that niche.

why not start a review site, its way easier to get started with. All you need to do is review products from amazon and other affiliate store. Install wordpress and download a review site template to use and upload it. if this is hard just head over to youtube and watch videos on how to install wordpress and wordpress themes. then you need traffic i suggest you start with facebook ads then, there are lot of materials out there to help you.

If you're really stuck with WordPress you could get someone
to build it for you at sites such as Upwork.

As you say when you watch YouTube videos all these technical
details are supposed to be very simple. However many of these
videos are a few years out of date and in the meantime changes
have been made to the software which is confusing for newbies.

Posting "I'm new" is like putting out honey for the bears.

Hey Frozen , check this video out, It's really informative for beginners who are serious about learning and making money online. Not sure if you heard about him, but his name is vick Strizheus and he teaches a lot about funnels and driving traffic etc. He even has a free training course and you can join his marketing system for free, i made $5,000 in just 48 hours.
Sure - you did - and troll forums looking for newbies dumb enough to believe that....

Yeah for every real, honest answer and internet review there's at least a dozen get rich quick posts out there that all say buy my system and then continue to buy my programs to learn more. I understand that someone had to think this stuff up and they should be compensated for their work, but that's also what makes it so hard for someone like me to just make an extra income. I'm not driving into this hoping to quit my job and retire to an island at 34. I'm only looking to supplement my income and hopefully pay off some debt a little faster. I've been around the internet since 1998 but just have no idea how to build a website. I understand what affiliate marketing is and how it works. It's the tools needed to get the "job" done that I'm struggling with. Again, sorry for the long post but thank you all for your input.

I think you're approaching this with the wrong mindset.

Did you EXPECT it to be easy?

Making money online is hard and takes time. You're literally just getting started.

Most people, including myself, didn't start making money until at least a year into it (sometimes much longer).

I'm not trying to discourage you- just trying to help you get more realistic.

    Start by:

    - Reading every article you can about SEO, traffic generation, backlinks, etc.
    - Watching video tutorials on how to use WordPress
    - Subscribing to blogs like CloudLiving, com, NicheSiteProject.com, etc.

Basically, soak up as much information as possible.

The beginning is the best time to learn. Take action, sure, but also learn, because knowledge is very important.

If you are using wordpress then I'd normally recommend DIVI as it is a wysiwyg web page builder.

however it might be worth your time having a look at this youtube playlist:

    https://www.youtube.com/playlist?lis...UOgtp0AEIY-ooV

Its from the team at mythemeshop and covers the basics for you.

Mythemeshop also have some free themes that include dummy data. Its quite a useful feature for beginners as you can see the changes you are making.

Just look for a theme that is "responsive" which means that it will adjust to mobile and tablet screens.

The domain hosting that you registered with should give you options to download wordpress or something similar. You just type your hosting URL/cpanel and it will direct you to your control panel.
From there you should be able to download WordPress. You really can get a site up in few hours if you know the content you'd like to post and who your audience is.
