Default C you have a fixed index page with Wordpress?

Hi,

Just a quick question. Does anybody know if it is possible to have a specific page or post display on the home page. I am setting up a site for somebody using the Wordpress platform but they are wanting to have a fixed page on the home page.

Is there a way to do this or is there some kind of plug in available that enables this?

I don't want to start hacking at the code to achieve this. Is there an easy option?

Thanks in advance!

Andy

when you want a page at the first site then go to settings --> reading and there you can choose your page.

for specific posts you can use the plugin wp-sticky (i think it was... it was suggested to me here in another thread and it works perfect)

Amen to that.

You can make a post sticky, but I recommend using a plugin (wp-sticky is the one I use too) to make a sticky page.

ok great, I'll try that. So I can basically choose to show 1 post on the index page and then make a specific post sticky so it will always be on the front page?

Thanks your your suggestions!

I just make a new page called home or whatever you want to call it, go to setting --> reading and set the new home as a static page, then I use exclude-page plug-in to make the 2nd home page go away from the navigation menu, if you don't there will be two homes in the nav menu.

Andy, is there a reason why you recommend this plugin over the inbuilt wordpress sticky function?

well just to give you different options other than the sticky post which is an option if you have your homepage indexed..which most sites do.

but another option is to focus your backlinks to the specific page you want indexed.. and then setup your linking structure to send then link juice to that page.
