Squeeze Page to OTO question?

Hi there I'm just about to upload a PLR product and have a OTO page that I want to implement however I'm getting a little tied up on the best practice for doing so.

Obviously I know that you can place it either after the person has bought the product as the redirection URL from my PayPal shopping cart.

However I've seen people place them directly after an Squeeze Page and before you get to the shopping cart.

However if you put it before a shopping cart do you tend to see people getting confused and abandoning the sale?

Also when you put it after the optin/squeeze page do people then forget to double optin because you've not directed them to confirm their optin by checking their emails and clicking on the confirmation link?

My plan was to have an optin page that offers a free report. When visitors click on the "Give me my free report" on my optin. I was going to automatically redirect to a One Time Offer Page instead of a typical Thanks and check for optin email page. However I'm worried that this is going to lead to people not opting in?

Can anyone please advise if I'm doing it wrong and what they do?

Many Thanks.

My impression is that the OTO comes after the main offer on
the main sales page so ...

Optin page ==> Main Sales Letter ==> OTO==> Order Page

Your optin will be tied to your autoresponder series which
will continue to direct them to the main sales page.

If you're going directly from the Optin to the OTO, then
where does your main offer come in?

I think I've watched some video training before not sure who it was and they basically showed you how make money by solely having a squeezepage and then OTO. I suppose could always email them after signup to the main offer?

Adam, I'm not real clear on what you're asking.

It the product that makes up your main offer the same one you're using in your OTO?

Or is your OTO product different than your main offer?

I consider a OTO to be an upsell or additional to your main offer.
I guess it depends on how you define OTO.

Sot it's, "Here's my product buy it, but if you act now you can
also get this additional product for a special (one time) price."

use the double optin redirect to make them the offer, once they click on the confirmation link, then takethem to their download link, then make them an offer on the same page as the download link...

Or use a membership script to make them log in for the free report (its so valuable you have to put it in a protected area) then when they log in there, make them an offer

I think the idea I've seen was breaking a PLR product up into a free email course. So once they have signed up for the initial optin the course will be sent to them over however long. But to get the most out of the free course a One Time Offer was slapped in after optin?

When you're planning to do is viable. I personally signed up to free e-courses and been shown OTO on the Thank You page. I even purchased some of the OTOs.

If you concern people might not confirm their opt-in when you redirect them to an OTO page directly, you may consider to redirect them to a Thank You page, as usually done.

On the Thank You, you could remind them to confirm their opt-in in order to be sent the free e-course via email. Upon confirming their opt-in, you could show them the OTO on the confirmation page.
