    Organic search engine traffic from Google, etc. is always good too, and generally pretty high quality. You will need to understand some of the basics of SEO though.

    Also, commenting/posting on different sites, blogs, forums where people share an interest in your site may help generate traffic. Just be sure your comments/posts are relevant.

    Hmmm Shekenya....there are tons of those free sources out there. All rocking good too from the quality angle. Because if folks find you through free traffic sources - and you do a fine job sharing value - you will definitely be in the green, near and long term, money-wise. And traffic-wise the flow will increase over time.

    Sources:

    - Twitter
    - Facebook
    - G Plus
    - Forum Marketing
    - Q and A Sites (like Quora)
    - blog commenting
    - guest posting
    - LinkedIn
    - Google

    The real trick is to share helpful, valuable insights on these sites. Because the value in the sharing, or your generosity to spend 10 or 15 minutes to write a Warrior Forum response, versus a 10 second blurb, that is what draws traffic to you. The source in an of itself is worthless. The value the person provides is the traffic builder.

    I have doubled down and really intend - and have followed through - on sharing value through my blog comments, guest posts, Warrior postings and Quora postings, and within days the traffic and biz opps and other ventures seemed to find me, miraculously. Really though it's about helping folks thoroughly, not fearing that you're wasting your time, and this generous mindset helps the traffic flow through the site itself to you.

    One question: where are you directing individuals? Sure you can do a squeeze page but goodness, if you can also start blogging - minimal investment - it becomes flat out easier and easier to drive traffic, to earn credibility and to generate greater sales over the long haul.

    If you are bootstrapping and cannot spend a cent - I have been there - just focus on leveraging platforms like guest posting and blog commenting. Free traffic, using other high traffic platforms, but you want to make a serious impact through the insights you share and problems you solve, by going above and beyond to help folks.

    I think that any platform that provides a visitor the ability to seek out their answers through a search function can be used for traffic.

    Bare with me for a moment...

    If you look at Facebook, Google+, Pinterest, Twitter and even message boards like WF you will find they all have one thing in common.

    The ability to search for keywords even to the point of using an "exact phrase" when punctuated in the search box.

    By creating content that is relevant to what people are searching for then you can lead that traffic into your websites and funnels.

    Become knowledgeable in a niche or particular subject so that you can convey to the visitor that you are an expert and you have authority on that topic.

    Once you convey that message to the visitor they will want to know more about what you have given to them.

    If you've ever seen the movie Starship Troopers, then you might recall the silly news segments that ended in "would you like to know more?"

    That is your call to action. Always think about WHERE in your message that you would begin to shift gears to the next stage in the process that you are trying to teach to that visitor. At that point you will tell them what to do next and how to get what it is they seek.

    You can't win them all, but if you work hard enough and you cover enough subjects in your niche you will take up a ton of keyword relevant real-estate across the platforms that will start to yield results.

    Unfortunately, OP, you asked the wrong question. You got the type of answers you wanted, but they're not the answers you need.

    Dana67 told us about something called Google (and it seemed to please ryanbiddulph), commenting, and forums.

    Ryanbiddulph hurled a bunch of sources and gave us a truly genius caveat (the real trick is to share valuable information/ media).

    Jvsoon, more hurling of traffic sources.

    And finally we have evanbang, who chose not to answer your question (and you should thank him for that), and despite quoting a film that only 3 people saw (and that includes the writer and director), gave you the first bit of useful advice: SEO is not something associated with Google alone, but any platform where users can enter keywords to hunt for desired information.

    The question you need to ask is this: how can I get traffic, and when I have it, what should I do with it?

    Asking for information about traffic sources on a forum like WF is an invitation for people to give you useless information. Which, as we'll remember from Ryanbiddulph, is a no-no; thanks, Ryan.

    The information in question may seem useful on the surface - 'Use Facebook, OP, use Twitter, oh, and remember to spend time delivering valuable information, because, heck, it turns out people like valuable stuff, go figure' - but allow me to give you some perspective.

    You're sat at your computer, right? Sat in your home office, in front of your computer, and you've just read to this point in the thread. And you now know a few things about traffic. You know, for instance, that Facebook has traffic (I bet you're thrilled with that insight, eh?), and you know that Facebook has a search function and somehow you can do something with that search function to get traffic. Got all that? Good.

    Question for ya: What do you do now?

    I'm all ears.

    Hit me with it.

    Anything?

    If you're new to the business, OP, and traffic-generation in particular, I absolutely don't blame you for being silent. In fact, I expect you to be silent. And why? Because up until now, you've walked through half a dozen thread replies and yet by some universal paradox you're still standing right where you started in the first place: not knowing how to get traffic, or what to do with it when you've got it.

    So. Let me answer the questions you needed to ask. Well, let me at least get the ball rolling. (Big subject.)

    Starting in reverse order, when you have traffic, what do you do with it?

    You collect it.

    You see, even when we generate so-called free traffic, it costs us money, and I don't know about you, but I suspect like me you don't like wasting money. If I spent 1 minute working on traffic generation, then the opportunity cost of that 1 minute is the 1 minute I could have spent doing something else to make money. Whatever we do in this business, OP, it comes with a cost. Free does not exist. So when I generate traffic, you can bet your buttocks I intend to make sure I'm not throwing money away.

    I collect traffic.

    And you can do this in a number of ways.

    3 common ways:

    - Newsletters.
    - Forums.
    - Membership sites.

    Question: do you notice something about those collection platforms? What do you see? This is what you see: I own those platforms. Certainly, I'll collect traffic on platforms I don't own (Facebook group members, Facebook page followers, Twitter follows, and so forth), but I'm only ever a guest on those platforms, and therefore my collected pools of core audience are never really my own, and therefore The Sequel - never really safe. What if Facebook change something? What if Twitter take offense at something my Capuchin monkeyservant tweets? In the first case, I may suffer from not being able to reach as much of my audience as before, and in the second I may lose my account, and in turn lose my audience entirely.

    Grow your socials, yes, but always collect your audience on platforms that you own.

    But how do we get that audience? How do we collect 'em in the first place? Well, time to answer the first question you should have asked. Time to get traffic.

    Some bright spark mentioned Facebook, so let's consider Facebook. (As you'll appreciate, to give you a full answer would take quite a long time, and by quite a long time I literally mean the next several decades, so we'll just dip into Facebook, and we'll swim along a channel suggested by evanbang: SEO.)

    Most marketers understand by now that having a Facebook page is a pretty good idea. As ideas go, not quite up there with the idea of wearing undies, but certainly better than the idea of wearing edible undies, and certainly certainly better than the idea of eating edible undies.

    Point being: a Facebook page? Not a bad idea.

    What most marketers fail to understand, though, is how to actually use a Facebook page to grow traffic.

    Well no.

    Let me rephrase: how to efficiently use a Facebook page to grow traffic.

    It is not efficient, for instance, to throw together merely valuable posts and pay Facebook to boost them. Moreover, nor is it efficient to merely whack up valuable posts, and yet fail to optimize them for searches and infuse them with virality. I could go on.

    Point is: the number of marketers correctly using Facebook pages to generate traffic is roughly the same number of male marketers that do not have man breasts.

    At least count, I believe the figure was 3.

    This is what you do, OP:

    1. Search Optimization.
    2. Virality.

    In 2017, and beyond, you need to ensure that both your actual page and the media you share to that page is optimized for search (Facebook and outside search) just as much as the page and media is infused with virality.

    That - Sir - is the modern Golden Rule.

    And it applies not merely to Facebook but to any place you plonk down media where search functions are present and where the viral response is a possibility.

    In terms of Facebook alone, though . . .

    If your page and media are optimized for search, then people can find them.

    If your page and media are infused with virality, then people are more likely to share them, and other people are more likely to find them.

    - Keyword tags (primary + secondary)
    - Keyword text
    - Keyword file names
    - Viral text and tags
    - Viral media (images, videos, gifs, articles, etc.)
    - Trigger words and images

    Those are just a few ways to employ the optimization-virality double-whammy on a Facebook page. What I'd suggest you do, though, is learn how to apply it . . . everywhere.

    To do anything other than the above? You're throwing away money.

    Money that could be spent on edible undies.

    And keep in mind:

    I'll I've done here is make a distinction between sources of traffic and how to actually get the traffic from them.

    That, really, is the main lesson.

    Lesson being (and no offense):

    Next time you want help with traffic, ask people how they get it, not just where they get it.

    The money is always in the how.

    As it turns out, never say never… I mean, if you know me I’m one of the few people who honestly think that massive list posts are stupid, and impossible to digest… Yet, here I am writing one.

    Let me explain. The whole “getting traffic” issue is one which can be approached from many different angles. The possibilities are countless. You can get traffic from so many different places and by utilizing so many different practices that it’s more than easy to overlook something.

    There are a variety of free traffic sources. However, keep in mind that the real question is: Can you effectively reach your specific niche market with the "free" traffic source you choose?

    If not, you're wasting your time and effort.

    yes yes collect it. collect as much as you can.

    another traffic source is Facebook groups.

    On the promo day for that group. add you link like everyone else.

    THEN click on the other links that were promoted and start commenting and sharing those posts.

    Go back to the facebook group and tell those content creators what you did.

    This conversation is right on time I am putting together an ebook on The best free.low cost traffic stragegies and as alway The Warrior have come through. Great information. The best strategy I found was for Instagram. you can get instragra on your desktop computer. I am an old lady and my fingers could not get to all the keystrokes I needed to use instagram.

    instagram is blowing up as you read this,

    yes, getting good results.....

    I do this, content, content, content, and then every 4th post PLUG.

    seems to work. But alot of big marketers are killing it in instagram land at the moment, and all FREE traffic. :-)

    It's also useful to do research in the area you're working in. There will be specific places people go from the search engines that may have ways you can contribute. If so, you may be able to leverage your contributions with advertisements.
