How many words per minute can you type?

I did a test recently and I managed 22 words per minute although a few mistakes crept in. I could probably do 15-25 words per minute without making mistakes.
How many words can you do (without mistakes)?

    depend on what I am writing.. I can write up to 60WPM when I am really motivated to write.. lol
    only around 20 for normal rate.. such as posting in a forum

      I don't know, but typing quick is one those skills you accidentally pick up in IM...or at least you should do.

      I wonder if there's an online resource you can use to test...we could have a Warrior typing competition

      I think I am about the same as you - however, I was formally taught to type - bless me - in 1976 (I was sweet 16, well , sweet ish) when dinosaurs still roamed LOL the last test I had was around 2001 I think and it was 75wpm with 100% accuracy, if memory serves me correctly..

    Twenty five or so, mostly with my index finger plus my thumb and little finger for the 'shift' key. Still, until I wrote this I hadn't noticed that I now use my thumb and little finger, so I must be making progress. I'll be using four fingers this time next year

      The typing is not the problem for me. I can easily out type my thinking... about twenty words per minute and I am 100% accurate after I hit spell check.

        typingtest.com puts me at around 110 to 115 words a minute with 97% accuracy.

        I also type with four fingers -- I rarely ever use my pinkies.

        When I'm writing a forum post or an e-mail, the only thing that slows me down is over-thinking my messages.

    Last test I took told me 84 words per minute, which I was psyched about.

    I really liked that particular test because it allowed me to hit the delete button to fix a mistake. Other tests want you to just keep going, which isn't the way that I type, so it slowed me down.

      Thanks to MOM making me learn it!!

      65-75 WPM with 99% accuracy, last test was a looong time ago. I took formal typing classes in high school when it wasn't "keyboarding 101" and it was awful and wasn't cool because I also learned the next session of dictaphone transcription--YUCK.

      Net noodling and forum typing is substantially lower with lots of backspacing!

    I can do writing pretty quick when i want to write stuffs.. but this days i rarely type long ebooks or articles.. Been putting Naturally Speaking at work for this tasks :-)

    I took the test 5 times and here are the results...69, 69, 70, 69, 69 with about 99% accuracy. Not bad for a 40 year old guy...lol

    For me, assuming that I'm composing as I type, i.e. no real notes, it isn't already formulated, I run right about 40 words per minute as long as I have a modest grasp of the subject I'm writing on.

    If I'm writing something that's been planned out already, the on-the-fly creation mechanism disengages and I can get to about 55 words per minute. This allows for about a 3% error rate and includes the time I use backing up and fixing said errors to put it at about 99.5% accuracy.

    On the other hand, Dragon Naturally Speaking usually puts me at about 60-70 words per minute if I'm composing as I speak. Closer to 100 wpm if I already know what I'm wanting to put together rather than figuring it out as I go along.

    With Dragon, though, I usually see about a 97% accuracy rate.

    Usually about 80+ WPM.

    I took a test once and it said 96 WPM. LMAO. That's crazy, but I had to really really concentrate.

    I play piano too though so typing almost comes natural.

      I tried a bunch of these tests back to back to get a good estimate. My speed came out between 40 and 55 WPM. These were with a couple of errors, but I'll go back and spell check it after most of the time or it will interrupt the flow my hands want to do while typing.

                If I am copying something... 40 WPM. If I am just typing like in this post... then I can get about 60 to 70 WPM... on a good day... but usually around 50 to 60 WPM is typical for me.

                Those typing tests are ludicrous anyway. They always have you copying some crap using words that you probably rarely use... much less type. This makes it more difficult to score well on those tests, because your hands aren't used to hitting those keys on a regular basis.

                If they scored based on just typing a post like this I would do quite well. I'm not a fast reader... so copying slows me down quite a bit. But the fact that I can type without looking at the keyboard helps somewhat.

    About 70 wpm typing normal words... much, much slower typing server commands because a single little teeny tiny typo can be catastrophic. :p

    I average 85-90 WPM with no errors, and can do 100, though mistakes start creeping in when I get to that rate.

    I've always loved typing (thank goodness) since I write so many articles. If I didn't type so fast, I guess I would have to outsource alot of my work because I usually write 6 to 8 articles per day, sometimes more.

    I also love using a calculator. Maybe when I was a kid I was one of those who loved to play with buttons

    If I am copying something I can type about 50 wpm with 100% accuracy. If I have to think and type I can spend a whole minute typing 50 words and then erasing them leaving me with 0 wpm.

    You know it's funny. I quit "skool" (just kidding) in my sophomore year and yet I knew before I quit that I wanted to learn typing. You see I knew then at 15 years old that the computer age was just around the corner. I got a "D" in that class. Mrs. Leib was my teacher, man was she strict. However thanks to her and a lot of practice I can type about 35 words per minute. Still when I need something typed fast I have my beautiful 17 year old daughter do it. She types 70 words per minute. WOW!

    PS I blazed my GED Test right after I quit. Just so you know I was making too much money to stay in school. REALLY!

    Even if I force myself to place my fingers in their proper places in my keyboard, I always ended up frustrated. Thus, until now, I only use 3 fingers in both hands typing, giving me around 30wpm..... LOL... I cannot afford to sacrifice my time in learning correct way of typing...

    The Facebook typing test puts me at 119 WPM, with an average of 110 over 100 tests. It's not surprising that I'm ranked 1st out of all my friends and ahead of 99% of the facebook population. (I might even be the fastest typer in the warrior forum)
