Longer or shorter articles?

Hello all,

I seriously got into article marketing. I'm writing 10 articles a day for the next month. Just finished day 2.

My question is simple - earlier I was writing longer 500 plus word articles. I've had some success and decent traffic from them. Now I'm writing shorter 300-400 word articles that are easier to write.

Can you please tell me do you preffer longer or shorter articles, why longer, why shorter? Which are better in your opinion. Is it better to have 10 shorter articles or 5 longer ones from your experiences.

Thank you,
Jack

It's more about quality than length, and the two are not always related. Honestly, I'm always suspicious when I read things like "I'm going to write 10 articles a day for a month." This is not meant as a dig at you, so please don't take it as such. It's just that this "writing treadmill" kind of goal most often results in poor quality, boilerplate articles. The reader gets nothing more than a few minutes of his/her time wasted.

I'm firmly in the camp of article marketers stressing quality over quantity. If you pick good keywords, you can get similar traffic numbers from far fewer articles and build a good reputation in your niche at the same time.

Having said that, I understand that a lot of AM'ers are just looking for the backlinks. Fair enough, but it does often lead to a proliferation of 'junk' articles.

I'm one who believes in quality too & maybe some humour (just my preference) but I have had some article sights reject an article becuase its too short. These guys want 500-700 words. If you could average around 500 words I think that would please most of the article sights.
      Good Luck

I get what you mean and I agree with you. Particularly with me, I'm in a smaller niche where I'm already ranked #1 for the most competitive keyword, so I'm not really looking for backlinks - what I'm looking for and trying to accomplish with a bigger amount of articles is to get to more people. I've already written a lot of "higher quality" articles and I did have some success with them, I'm satisfied, some articles have brought me hundreds of visitors. But just for the sake of it - I want to test it out. To see what kind of results are possible with quantity, because I already did the quality part - plus, if they click through the articles - I'm sending them somewhere else where they get major quality. And once you're knowledgeable enough about the topic, it's relatively easy to write these articles and make them all pretty much okay quality - I mean, I don't want to win a prize for them, just get to and help as many people as possible.

I'll test it out anyway for a month and then report with some results. Thanks for the tips by the way.

    Test it.

Day 3 write 10 long articles
Day 4 write 10 short articles on the same topic as day 3

In the resource boxes use a different link for day 3 and 4 and let us know if you see a difference

I think short articles. People don't have that much time.

    It's all about :

    1. Quality.
    2. How attractive your title.
    3. How you organize your important points in the article.

PS : Sorry to say, length is not really matter.
