Hello All,

My buddy and I just recently started an online business. We want to learn the marketing end of things and wanted to know if anyone had any good starting points and mastermind groups to refer us to?

Thank you

Can you share something about your online business like what type of business is it etc? That will help us to guide you in the right direction.

    Hi, Gee. Hi, Gerrie.

I'm not aware of any mastermind groups (or the like) that are specific to Shopify (although, surely some must exist by now), but I can give you an alternative.

    Warrior Forum.

It's currently the best resource I know for online marketing, and I know of no other place where you can get free advice from so many other marketers.

What I'd do in your shoes: throw Shopify into search and learn everything you can, and when you've done that, branch out into other areas and begin asking for help.

    Cheers,

    Tom

Indeed, and as you learn more you'll also get stuck on specific things. Bring those specific stuck point and search for solutions.

Since you're new, you should familiarize yourself with ways to drive traffic to your site (SEO, Adwords, FaceBook ads, direct mail, etc.), choose the one that best fits what you're selling and your skills/learning ability.

Learn about setting up landing pages and copy and pricing and making offers.

        Apply new knowledge.

Don't try to learn everything about everything. Keep in mind that you need to drive people to a page on your site and that page needs to be set up in such a way that they buy from you.

Your pages don't have to be perfect (you can improve as time goes by), your methods of driving traffic don't need to be perfect or many: testing is what works best here... You start with your current best ideas, track results, make changes based on response and new knowledge.

Second and third the advice here. Warrior Forum is a fabulous resource. Read, learn, ask questions, learn more, study, help folks as you learn and you will be able to zero in a bit.

Good advice down low too; sites like Udemy and Teachable offer helpful courses for diving into your niche. Probably a few on Shopify selling as well.

I'd do some searches for things like "Shopify tips". Not necessarily for specific tips, but to learn who puts out consistent information; look for in-depth coverage, not just fluffy "7 Ways to..." clickbait.

You could do the same with "online pet shop tips", "marketing Shopify sites" and so on.

In a few hours, you should have a handle on who the players are in your space.

Truth be told, you won't learn the basics in a master mind group. Once you do have a grasp on the basics, though, a good master mind can be a great place to learn, both by asking for help and offering it when you can.

    Hi Gerrie,

You could look for some of the content Ezra Firestone puts out. His ecommerce business is built on shopify.

He is the trainer in DigitalMarketer HQ for their latest certification in Ecommerce.

If you can afford to do the training it is very worthwhile. Details of their courses are here-->
    Courses | Digital Marketer Certifications

Apart from the customer acquisition strategies and structural stuff the content Ezra covers in relation to integrations between shopify, support desk, CRM and retargeting is more than worth the price of admission.

The other DM courses are also excellent if you want a structured approach that works.

They shorten the learning curve and give you all the tools to understand things from start to finish.

    Best regards,

    Ozi

I run a little (~130 people) mastermind group on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/groups/110529802750143/

You can also check my YouTube channel (link in signature).

The most important thing is that you don't get stuck in "information consuming" phase. I see a lot of my clients and also other people consuming Facebook videos and blog articles all day long, waiting for the "secret sauce". The thing is, there is none. The vast majority of businesses (also in E-Commerce) got there through testing, work, creativity and optimization.

This being said, good luck with your store
