I am looking at adding popups to my sites to capture emails. Which one works better in your experience: -popups that roll in in a window but don't obscure the screen -popups that gray the screen -the ones that show as a horizontal ribbon at the bottom of your screen thanks! |

What you could do is test all of them if possible and see which works best. I think the horizontal ribbon would be less intrusive personally. Gurpreet |

Try the simple non intrusive DHTML ones. Tony |

Intrusive is not necessary bad I guess I have to run a split test to see the traffic drop off vs. signup rates. I was hoping someone has done that here.

Basically adsense drop (my rev. base) vs. registrations via split test.

Thanks Mike. I have InstantPopover but have not deployed it yet. Should look into it. I like the idea of action popup, which grays the screen, and forces the user to either signup, click on close button (or leave, I guess), but have not tried that one yet. |

It's not a question of whether you like it or not, it's more of which one has the best conversion rate. From my experience, the second option works best. I just simply use what Aweber is offering, nothing fancy. I had tried top ad and footer ad, they don't fare equally well as the popup with greyed out background. No matter what, testing is the only way to find out.
