Do you make money using Squidoo?

I just started learning about Squidoo. Do you use it? Are you profiting from it? Would love to know your thoughts.

Squidoo's more strict then in past months/years... Therefore you should focus on a quality lense first; if you look like you're blatantly trying to sell without provided any good content that will benefit readers then you're lense will get pulled down.

Look at other lenses in your category and work on differentiating from them and bringing a unique angle to the table... you can then drive people to a blog where you pre-sell them on an offer or just do it on squidoo but in a non spammy way

Organic Girl, hey--I once dated an "inorganic" girl in college, but we didn't have a good chemistry between us. (Sorry for the low-grade humor, I used to be a science teacher.)

The Main Rule To Remember: Google shows only two listings from any top-level domain for any particular search. Always remember that! So, whatever product you want to promote, do a Google search and see if two lenses show in the first five pages returned. There many not be any, because most people don't know how to optimize a Squidoo page.

These two pages (if there are two) are your primary consideration. If you can't beat out one of the two lenses showing for your keyword phrase, your lens will never show, even 100 pages back. You must be one of the top two lenses for your keyword search to show in Google's listings.

The easiest way to get a lens in Google is if you can get in on a product launch a few weeks before the launch date. There will be little competition and it's pretty easy to get on the front page. That gives you time to get back-links slowly and keep building them through the launch and you should hold your position. If you wait until a few days before the launch, other affiliates will come swarming in like locusts and it is harder to get your lens listed.

In a highly established niche, there are probably tons of lenses already. In such cases I might opt to build a WordPress blog as a pre-sell page and host it on your own domain. Doing this removes the limitation of trying to be one of the top two lenses for the search term.

If you learn how to optimize your Squidoo lens you can beat out other lenses for a keyword if you will do things right.

Now, with what I've told you, you might be thinking that there is too much competition to get lenses listed in very competitive niches. If you pick a product in a niche where there are already hundreds of lenses out there already, I'd take a pass.

But that's okay. People make tons of money from lenses by writing articles and submitting them to article directories with their author resource box pointing to their lens--or to a squeeze page and then to their lens. I'm not talking about writing 3-4 articles either. I'm talking about writing 5-6 a day for a month for products in highly competitive niches. Most people are not willing to do this. While submitting this many articles will not get you any more link juice from EZA or other directories than just submitting a few, it will get you traffic!

People who balk and say that Squidoo doesn't work any more are wrong. One simply has to learn the ropes and do their homework. Most people are not willing to do that.

I think the model of building a lens and write tons of articles for it, is wrong. I did it and I lost time and money( I was new and did know much back then). Yes, you can do money but there are other profitable ways to make money with article marketing. Use lenses as link building.

I just ended a squidoo campaign..All in all I have 40 lenses made within a span of 4 months.

One purpose why I did it is to have a passive source of income and to check out how much money I can get out of it..

    My results so far.

    1. Payment for may 4 lenses - .13 cents automatically sent to charity
    2. Payment for June 15 lenses - .23 cents
    3. Payment for July 36 lenses - .53 cents

Current total less than a dollar - only enough for a few pieces of gum or candy

I'm waiting for the August payment and see how much I'll make with it. I started getting good traffic to some of my lenses starting August.

There are some things I didn't do.

I didn't do keyword research for majority of my lenses. All I did was select a topic I liked and started writing. For those that I did keyword research on, I'm seeing consistent traffic now. about 10 hits per day. Small yet consistent.

I didn't do any promotion until August.

I know better now. Although the money I earned in Squidoo is extremely small I realized if I did the whole nine yards from the start they could be doing well today.

The good thing I see with squidoo is if you give it your best and do due diligence before you crank out one, it will have a good ROI.

Today I can do a squidoo in 30 minutes assuming that the article is already prepared. About 1 to 4 hours if I'll write the articles myself.

Although my lens campaign is paused as of the moment I would still recommend newbies to make them, however make sure to do due diligence. This will make a difference.

Also follow Mike's advice on the total number of lenses per google results. Search engine traffic will be beneficial for your lens in the long run.

    To Your Success!

    Omar
