how do i go about setting up obtain lists

looking to launch an e-magazine and want to know if i can set it up in such a way that i can generate a record of all those who subscribe.

Try using Email Marketing Software, Email Newsletters and Autoresponders by AWeber - that should solve it.

Of course you can.

You can either go for partnership with digital magazine delivery sites like texterity, zinio, etc. or you can opt for openzine. The magazine delivery engine will power your site and I think they also have facility for managing subscribers.

yup I would check out aWeber; its really easy to create lists and add opt-in forms etc. There are many vids on youtube showing how ! though its costs around $20./month ... !

Autoresponder like Aweber is definitely the best way to go.

Not only can you generate a record of your subscribers. You can also split-test subject headlines or messages, see who clicks your links, opens your messages, etc...
