Hello, I am a total beginner at IM, and am looking for 3 niches to try and apply what I have been reading. I tend to over analyze things, so I decided I should expect my first few attempts to totally fail, and not worry about trying to make everything perfect. Now I am looking for my first niche. I bought Market Samurai, which seems to be a really good tool, and have been trying to use it to find a niche. My initial approach is to go through the Amazon best seller lists and look for something that is already selling, then try to find a niche version of it. It seems each category I find already has strong competitors. I am not really sure how to narrow my focus down to a real "niche". For example, I liked the "balance ball chair" products on Amamzon, but the "seo competition" screen looked difficult. The #1 position did not look too strong, but 2-10 were strong. Would a "niche" be a phrase like "best balance ball chair"? I'm not sure how to narrow the focus to something I could dominate. Or take for example, external hard drives. The only keyword that looked like I could do well was "portable external hard drive firewire", which has a SEOV of $120. As for Market Samurai, I don't really know what amount of SEOV I should be looking for. I also thought "pet hair vacuum" might be good Or maybe instead of looking at items on Amazon, I should be looking for a process? For example, "building core muscles" instead of "balance ball chairs". Or "how to backup pc", instead of "external hard drive". I have seen some examples where people use a google tool to find niche versions of popular words. Is the idea that you find a good niche keyword, then find a product to put on the page? I was thinking I should find the product first, then come up with the keyword(s) to bring in the traffic. Any suggestions on finding niches? I know everyone asks that question, but many of the answers seem to be directing newbies to self-improvement or money-making type products, which I do not know much about. My areas of knowledge are not really money-related, I know a lot about computers and programming. Sorry to ramble, I read a lot, then my brain stops when I turn on Market Samurai to implement what I've been reading. |

If you are looking to build niche sites / blogs for amazon you may want to check this site out: Amazon.com Bestsellers: The most popular items on Amazon.com. Updated hourly. and use https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal to find your keywords. If you are looking to market to affiliate programs.. I find the best way to isolate a niche is to look for something that fullfills a need and has emotion attached to it. That's probably why weight loss is one of the most popular niches.. it fullfills a need, and has emotion attatched to it. Goto the clickbank market place, and look for items that can provide those two things.. if you find a decent product that you believe will convert well (most vendors lie about their conversions so you just have to test). A lot of people who are new (i did it 4 ever myself) "Major in the Minors" and really.. finding a niche is one of the minors in my opinion.. yet so many people get stumped there ![]() Good luck! |

Those are nice but try to build a base around more of a broader market... How much can you write about a pet hair vacuum? Don't be afraid to go for more competitive niches where there is much money to be made and plenty of traffic to go around... - Forex - weight loss - dating These are just some examples and of course you'd have to search out a lot of long tail keywords but there's plenty of profit to go around if you're willing to work for it. |

Hey William welcome to the forum! The questions to ask are: 1) What do you know? 2) What do you like? 3) What are you interested in? Question #3 will be most important because it seems you will start article marketing on the subject so make sure it's a subject you won't get bored with quickly. Also be sure to check out the Google Wonder Wheel which is great for giving you new ideas/angles on a niche... Here's the post that got me into it right here on the forum Use the "Wonder Wheel" to identify new Niches - New Free Google Search Tool *REMEMBER* Don't worry about getting it right, just get it started! PS: STOP calling yourself a newbie, you're a ~Newbie Star~ my man... we all are after all |

I ( and am sure a lot of folks in this forum) can relate to what you are going through. ![]() Having tried numerous things, I have learned that: 1. There are really genuine opportunities in the market. 2. Whatever opportunity you choose, it is ONLY YOU who can make it work. Don't fall for easy-to-do or get-rich-quick scams. 3. NEVER EVER GIVE UP. If you stay in the game long enough, you WILL succeed. Don't think that you 'will give it a shot for 90 days'. You might as well not get in if you are not ready for the long haul. 4. Don't keep 'studying'. Take a plunge and get in the game. All the Best. Just pick one (ofcourse some research is required. But beware of analysis/paralysis) and stay long enough and you will succeed... ![]() http://www.buildmyonlinebusiness.net |
