The ability to do what I want, when I want, whenever I want. Plus, marketing fascinated me.

I first started to make money online because I herniated a disc in my back and literally couldn't work.

So I started selling info products on ebay as a side earner. It was such a thrill that i had actually made my own products and people were buying them.

It really give me a great boost in confidence and I started scaling it by creating more products to sell.

Eventually it really took off and was actually taking hours to fulfil my orders. It was like I had an actual job and I started hating it.

Then I read up about a lot of things and still sold on ebay but I automated the whole process and made everything digitally deliverable.

This was the best thing I ever done, I could actually just sit back and let the sales come in without any input.

It changed my life and once I had that taste of virtual autopilot profits and the freedom it gave me I never looked back.

Since starting I have now created a few products and set them up for my children with all money going into a bank account for when they are older and my parents and my wife's parents to earn them money.

It's so satisfying being able to not only support your immediate family but also your extended family.

      Great question.

For me, I kind of fell into it when I was laid off over a decade ago. I found I really enjoyed it. I also enjoy the flexibility, the additional family time, and not spending hours in the car each week commuting back and forth.

The stock response to this unique question:
(Yes this has never been asked before)

    I hate my Boss.
    I hated my 9 to 5.
Wanted to make my own hours.
I wanted my share of the laptop lifestyle.
Love working from home in my PJ's.
    No one to answer to.

And yet most of the people replying are not making more than the average McDonald's worker.....

I love freedom and wanted it I also like to work anywhere and anytime I like but then realize that when you have an online business, most of these things are mirages.
Just love what you do and be able to do it anytime of the day, then you are good to go with online business.

I think the best words to sum it up is Freedom and Scalability

We can do what we want, when w e want, it's performance based

For Scalability - there is no real limits

It is more cost effective / scalable to reach prospects online than offline.

To me, everything else is just a by-product of it.

    Be my own boss
    Make my own hours
    Freedom
    Financial security
    etc...

I here you.. that was my dilemma 7 years ago

I had two within a year or so. I just had to really maximum the efficiency of my time. When they took their naps, my nose was to the grindstone in work

Sometimes 2 hours of absolutely deep concentration in work can be more effective than 5 hours of ho hum work

      Make sense ?

I was entering the real world just in time for the economic recession of 2008. At the time, I was living in a very small town that had no jobs, even in a good economy. I realized that opportunities were scarce and that the only way I'd make it is to create my own opportunities. Plus, I didn't have the traditional credentials to enter the graphic design industry (school, internships, experience, references, etc.)

Lucky for me, freelance clients don't care about any of those things. All they care about is whether or not you can solve their problems, and I could, so I succeeded.

Having had the contrast of working a traditional job on a full time basis, I love what I do now and the quality of life it provides far too much to ever consider doing anything else.

It's a wonderful thing to work for yourself, utterly scary no matter where you are in your journey, but worth when you see results.

That said, freedom to dictate my work and life on my own terms.
