Does the Warrior Forum need a coffee machine?

There have been so many threads and polls about how "we should improve the Warrior Forum". I'm of the opinion that it's damn great just as it is, and merely sit back and watch what Allen's going to do next. However, there's the matter of caffeine dispensing hardware that I feel must be addressed. Please, make your voice be heard.

    Kevin,

I personally don't drink coffee, but I wouldn't mind a root beer machine. I could definitely use one

do you remember Die Hard 4.0? The terrorists were transferring a virus that blew up a person's computer through the net. I am sure if THAT can be done, then Allen can easily come up with something to pop out rootbeer cans out of my dvd drive or something.

    What do you think?

Root beer? I've forgotten what that tastes like. Wonder if there's an A&W near the Marriott in Raleigh.

oh love latte! would love that.. if we are going to get coffee and such (I also want Bev's Lindt Choccy) then can we also have "Happy Hour" so Vodka and coke served after working hours (ice and a slice with mine), preferably on a nice little silver platter with a cute little napkin (this is where Bev's Lindt Choccy could also go)...

Slight problem I envisage with the above though.. that of as there are several different member time zones, therefore end of work day is gonna be all over the clock, it means that happy hour will have to be continuous.. oh well, I guess we will have to live with that...

Darned tooting! (went for a phrase that would appeal to, well no one actually).

My tea comes in industrial sized vats, using entire truckloads of PG Tips with herds of cows on a rotation system supplying the milk.

If I'm going to exagerate I thought I might as well go the whole hog.

Other than 'wired warriors being boiled in herb tea and a keyboard ban' this poll is invalid!

    You have 3 no's and 1 yes.

There needs to be a 'not sure' choice for dithering warriors.

I think that might perhaps possibly may include me, not sure though!

No, but I really dislike coffee and I'm caffeine sensitive. I've been pushing it with my three cups of black tea as it is. I've looked, but the local store doesn't carry any caffeine-free black tea. I need to turn to Amazon if I want any breakfast tea without the kick.

And I should probably go make myself a cup instead of stumbling into the WF all bleary-eyed this morning.

ETA: Horrified to read that people ruin tea with milk and other additives. I take mine black (or green or herbal).

      MOCHA DELIGHT
This is as light as air yet so rich it sticks to the spoon! The coffee tastes fabulous with the rich chocolate, too.
Makes 6 espresso cups or 4 ramekins: Prep 20 mins: Chill 6 hours: Cal per portion 220
175g 6 oz plain cooking chocolate
50 ml 2 fl oz strong dark coffee
      15g ½ oz butter
      3 eggs, separated
      1. Put chocolate and coffee in a pan together and melt them over a low heat. Stir until smooth. Remove from heat and cool for 5 mins, then stir in butter and egg yolks one by one.
      2. Whisk the egg whites until they are softly peaking. Add a couple of spoonfuls to the chocolate mixture and keep stirring until the mixture is slightly loosened, then fold in the remaining whites. Divide the mixture between the cups.
      3. Chill for 6 hours in the fridge and then serve with single or whipped cream

      • 125g 4 oz luxury milk cooking chocolate, melted
      • 125g 4 oz marshmallows
In a bowl fold together the custard and double cream until evenly mixed. Drizzle in the glucose and drip in the broken Toblerone pieces.
Give the mixture another stir, tip into a plastic container and put in freezer.
After 2 hours, remove, stir to break up crystals then put back into freezer.
To make sauce, melt chocolate and marshmallows together in a bowl over a pan of simmering water.Do not stir.

Here's a dead-simple coffee dessert recipe for lazy-a** cooks (from one of the laziest-a** cooks ever):

Scoop of good quality vanilla ice cream.
Pour slightly cooled espresso over the top.
            Sprinkle w chocolate shavings.

Delicious. Looks fancy. Dead-a** easy to put together.

Try coffee or chocolate ice cream for a twist/moka.

Now ... I have to take a break and whip down to the A & W.

    Thanks Kelly,

When I was a kid, around 16, I and a friend drove up to northern California to pan for gold.

The old pickup truck we were in had no AC and for about 8 hours of the trip it was unbearably hot.

When we got to civilization again we happened upon an A&W stand.

That first cold frosty Mug of A&W was the best thing I can ever remember drinking to this day.

Your pic captures the feeling. Yum Yum.

After 5 or 6 days of panning for gold and only getting about $50 (1960 prices) in small nuggets and dust we stopped again at A&W on the way home.

I have to say the A&W was the highlight of the trip, not the gold. Well, the trout filled Eureka River and the forest with it's babbling brooks and wild life (Animals, birds, snakes and vegetation kind of wild life) were right up there too. But the Root Beer, oh the Root Beer.

Earth to George, Earth to George, Shaking head quickly to wake up. I'll Settle for some of Kevin's coffee today.

As a teenager, lo--many years ago, my default hangout was the A&W drive-in. Absolutely the best root beer ever!

Now, as always I'm a major addictee of coffee. It is my fuel.

Without it, I daresay, I would be unable to function.

So, Mr. Riley, a textual answer to your poll: Yes! A coffee machine dispensing hot, black, unadulterated coffee on demand would be a worthwhile addition to WF!

Not "Brontoburgers", Kevin, but the moral equivalent thereof--the "Teen Burger".

Teen Burgers were a bacon cheeseburger delivered hot to the tacky aluminum tray hung on the window of my 1956 Chevy by a "short-shorts-clad", often very attractive, young woman.

There is little these days that can match the memory of those times.

              Adam,

The "olden days" were not particularly bad. In retrospect, however, they in no way compare to today.

They are, on occasion, a passing, brief fond memory.

Adding a coffee machine, A&W machine, water cooler will only lead to idle hands / minds & random chit-chat....which always lead to rumors, which no doubt leads to sexual jokes & innuendo's.....which naturally leads to tawdry love affairs, which spawn an entire generation of illegitimate IM children...all of which search endlessly online into their early adult years for their natural fathers...knowing nothing except they were Internet Marketers.....
Searches lead to the warrior forum, where they find that same coffee machine, A&W machine, water cooler....and get caught up in all the idle chit-chat & rumors...which leads to....

It's a tangled web we weave....

    Black, no sugar please...

I'm a little higher maintenance. Maybe a hot emo-looking barista with some piercings and a double shot with heavy creme'.

Would the coffee machine serve garlic bread? I'm totally craving garlic bread.

    Kevin,

I don't know about the coffee thing,
but I do think the WF sure could use a hamster...

Don't you think this would be a great feature?

That would explain the database errors the forum has been giving me in recent days. Next time it happens I'll know that the hamster that powers the forum has fallen off his wheel and just needs a minute to get back on again

Matt and John are "split testing" with the poor hamster and vodka.

Screw all that. A coffee IV drip dripping directly into my veins would make this forum near-perfect! The forum makes the coffee, goes through my pc / laptop hardware, goes into the IV drip, and gives me the caffeine high I crave!

Also a youtube video of Allen doing an informercial with a hot babe on each arm, a la Tom Vu style, would be classic!

I say a resounding and enthusiastic YES!

I mean if ezinearticles can manage to send out a lousy coffee cup, then I think The Warrior Forum can trump this move in spades and provide all of us a nice coffee/tea beverage of our choice!

I'll have an iced mocha please with a double pump of chocolate and a pump of caramel.

    Thank you.

    Kevin,

By the looks of the poll you have a coffee mutiny on your hands! Don't worry, I promise to fax you a coffee or two to "sample" if you have to walk the keyboard plank. arrr

Dragon Naturally Speaking could be an excellent sidestep to the keyboard predicament

Maybe someone could invent a multifunction pc that has a hot drinks dispenser on the side...and a toaster perhaps.

OK, seriously, what is wrong with you people?!

How is it possible that we can be pondering the culinary delights of the A & W root beer and nobody has mentioned the A & W root beer float?!

    Sacrilege! Absolute sacrilege!

Oh, I'd like to put a request in for a Mint Julep dispenser, too. I've never had one, but they look scrumptious! I'm sure my productivity would get quite a boost from them, too.

    ;-)
