I recently added TrustGuard seals (security, privacy and business verifed) to my site. I was hoping for a conversion increase but I haven't seen much change yet. TrustGuard recommends putting the seals on your order page (duh!) but they also recommend placing at least one on the top left corner of each page, or at least your usual landing page. So I was thinking of putting the Security seal at the top left of my sales page near the headline. But then I started thinking... Could this have a negative effect? As in an immediate tip-off that this is a commercial site? I often wonder about this. I figure most people can recognize a sales page just from the format and style but I could be wrong. The intent of a good sales page is to capture the visitor in your story before being obvious about selling something. Will a security seal at the start ruin the "illusion"? I know, I know... I should test it. But right now I'm running two other tests and it takes time. So I'd like to hear your impressions on this. |

Stompernet has done some research on this. If I recall correctly the seal gets better results at the bottom of the page. You need to test top, bottom, left right.

To me personally, I will feel good when I see the guard seal near the order button and the page bottom part. I saw some of the salespage placed the guard logo on top of the page and this make me feel that this guy going to sell me something in the first place. When someone decided to order from you and see the guard seal, this will make the buyer more confident to order from you. I think only show the guard seal when someone decide to buy from you will convert some result. :-) - Sean |

Thanks for your opinions. I tend to agree (at least until I get a chance to test it) - seals are good on the order page but not at the top of the page.
